You can make photography as expense like you want, but there is also a another way ! Pictures are made from light and with this in mind it is possible to paint your subject with light. You need : digital camera that can be put on manual Lens can be between the 28 and 200 mm couple of light lanterns, I use mag lights but can also be led Tripot for steady camera First create a background, in this case I use a black cotton. Then put your subject in front of your camera and focus the subject, get the camera from the auto focus. The follow setting can be used : aperture on around the 8-11 shutter speed on around the 10 seconds ISO on 200 or better whitebalance on auto The intention is to make a first picture that should be black. so no light coming in on 10 seconds shutter speed. Now use one of you light lantern and paint the subject with your light. The longer you keep your light on the subject the brighter it will be, just paint over the subject from top to down and after this have a look at your picture and see what has happened. If there are spots with not enough light you can paint longer the next try, if there are spots that are to bright just do the next paint shorter with the light lantern. If the overall picture is to dark you can up the shutter speed to 12-15 seconds or get the aparture lower like 5,6, if the photo is to bright you can lower the shutter speed to 5-8 seconds or up the aperture to say 11 or higher. Playing with the settings is not as difficult as it seems. It is normal to make 10 pictures or more to get the result you want, just look at every new picture and see were the adjustments are needed and shine longer or shorter on the subject. The follow picture is not adjusted in any way. only coverted from RAW to JPEG This way of making pictures is low cost but can give art like pictures above avarage quality. I hope this tutorial helps to make pictures in a complete other way, if you have only tried it once you will use this for sure. It makes making pictures more fun and gives inside how a photo can be made with other thinking. greetz sannie
