So I opened the cab today when the lights were supposed to be on and they weren't. In doing some quick testing light is firing, stays on for about a minute then cuts off. I have a Galaxy Electronic ballast (400 W), been in continuous use about 4-5 years, so I know a new one won't hurt. Any opinions out there are these things worth trying to fix or do I just toss? I am not that electronically inclined but can mimic videos with the best of them..... I already ordered a Solistek 600/400 switchable for a replacement, but curious what to do with this carcass, hate to throw something away that could be easily repaired, can always keep as a backup or whatev. if she gets fixed.

Hi all I'm looking to purchase another light for a small 60x60x160 tent for Quarantine purposes. Really I'm mainly going to use the light on a 250W setting. I know cost wise it's more effective to purchase say the Gavita digistar 400W dimmable or the lumatek dimmable and run at the 250W setting as this would give me further capabilities if needed in the future. What I would like to know is........... Is a 250W lamp going to run more efficiently light wise in a straight 250W ballast or at the 250W setting on a 400W dimmable ballast ? Grtz HillCrest

Hello, I have an old ballast i bought 15 years ago, when it was hard to find hardware in my country. He have a max 500W outpout, HPS/MH. I use it in winter cold time, i ad this one to my actual 600W ballast in my 120x120 room. He is working fine, with an old Philips Son-T Agro 400w (430W in fact). I bought few days ago a Greenpower 400W to renew my Son Agro, the same the 600W i have, but she doesn't start I try the bulb in other ballast, the lamp is working fine, but not in this ballast. This ballast works fine with Osram, Sylvania and older Philips lamps. I was wondering where it is coming from, may be the ignitor or something in the new PIA technologie, what do you mind ? What could have change between Son Agro and GreenPower ? Is the 400W - philips Master HPI-T Plus using the same technologie and may i have to face some issues if i try this MH too ? Maybe i will mix 600HPS/400W MH, but i think the light repartiton won't be as great cause the lamp will light more blue on one side and more red on the other. So it is why i have renew by the same HPS Greenpower (great bulb i always use from seed to harvest) Here is some pictures of this particular ballast : Thanks for any help or explanation you can provide to me
