nox 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 I have the entire FAQ from overgrow saved on my PC, as well as most of the strainguide and the entire sickplant guide as well. Who should I send it to if you are interested in starting info for this site based on old overgrow info.

nox 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2008 I agree on making a new forum with its own FAQ's but i also believe that if we offer the old OG FAQ for reference for newbies to growing that they are more likely to join this forum compared to other forums with more information already readily available for them to get growing. This site has great potential no doubt about it but I believe that if we offer a place for people to read over FAQ's that have already been fine tuned for several years from the old overgrow site that not only will there be information here for people to read and get started already until we have a new FAQ here made from posts and perhaps a new section for the sole purpose of creating a new FAQ that it will also greatly improve the number of people joining each day. It can be a temporary solution since this site lacks all the information for people to get started on a grow right away which alot of people are looking for. I think this should be thought about in all seriousness. Perhaps a vote from current members to see what everyone thinks of the idea. Please consider this. -Nox
keesthemad 8 Report post Posted March 4, 2008 Hey, just give it some time, I'll be hard working on some FAQ's and then in no time when the forum is running I'll be posting them... Kees.
The Joker 705 Report post Posted April 24, 2008 The OG faq is quite impressive and is a valuable resource. Nothing can replace OG or even come close as it was a time and a place. So we can let that go. The Do it yourself section has never been rivalled on any site I have visited. Nor the review of strains.Nor the size and quality of the membership. Many never posted again and some are still around like WPW, Dequilo and others... If anyone wants the link, just PM me. No point in reinventing the wheel if you want some info. You can download it and keep it on your computer. I check it out all the time. I vote to at least post a link to valuable information posted by thousands of experienced growers. At the pace this site moves, it would take 10 years to accumulate what's in the OG faq. The homemade carbon filter tutorial, the bubbling bucket tutorials, the nute and tea tutorials all offer how to make essential grow room items for a fraction of a retail price. My 2cents. Maverick 278 Report post Posted April 25, 2008 I agree OG is dead and gone. The information they had was valuable information. It is not hard to find it if you have the desire to really find it. Any new site has it's problems begining, but unless it has regulars who are willing to help in building it, it will never work. The site is no better than the ones who are posting in it. It takes time and lots of it hard work to succeed. I do think that maybe a thread listing tutorials from other places might be of assistance, and still not take anything away from this site. I can see Sannies point in wanting his own FAQ section, but also there is room for other points of view which people are going to go and check them out as well to compare and then make up their own minds as to what is best for their grow. Nothing is etched in stone saying something has to be this way or that way, you might find that you can take a piece from one place and add it to something from another and then you have your own plan. It might even be better than the ones that you took parts from. But that is my two cents too

Whazzup 529 Report post Posted April 26, 2008 I think it would be a great idea to get the OG information on the forum. No disrespect sannie, but overgrow was THE site for the cannabis grower and it had extremely good articles. The idea behind this forum was to have as much information available as possible, and of good quality, such as the (good) overgrow threads. Even the name of this forum was inspired by overgrow. So I think it's a bit too easy to just discard the overgrow archives. A lot can be learned from them and bringing the GOOD ones together on Opengrow would be a great asset for the forum. It's the same as thanslating the wietforum articles. The advantage is that you don't need to translate them anymore So I would strongly suggest to keep Overgrow alive and take it from the point where they had to stop. I learned a lot more from overgrow than from any Dutch forum in those years. I don't agree that "Almost every big grow site has most of the OG stuff posted already" and the stuff that is posted still makes a lot of sense. If you want to build a forum you need the info. You don't want to send everyone to other fora to get that info. Opengrow should be a primary source of good annotated overgrow articles too. If only as a tribute.
