kamut 219 Report post Posted September 6, 2014 I read that the Protekt is a powerful ph up. Is that 5.9 ph out of the bottle including the Protekt? Maybe you're using less than the recommended dosage of the Protekt? Cool thread.
Reallate1 97 Report post Posted September 13, 2014 So... How's the smoke? Don't get lost over there and keep us hanging- I suppose it must be proper, considering the silence. Hey, if you want SP x Madonna cuttings, let me know and I'll take extra. I know you have tons of seeds but I just thought I'd throw it out there. Looking sweet, man! Thanks again for the info on mediums, and of course, the hookup! Real
feroce 331 Report post Posted September 14, 2014 Nice work feroce , some fine looking specimens there, keep it up. Thanks gregster I read that the Protekt is a powerful ph up. Is that 5.9 ph out of the bottle including the Protekt? Maybe you're using less than the recommended dosage of the Protekt? Cool thread. I'm not using the Protekt any more, kamut...it's easier to use silica rocks in the buckets...and I'm all about easier. So... Real Hey Real Yeah, both crosses are pretty good...but most of my time lately has been on the river bank, the kings are running and I know a quiet little backwater that hardly anyone fishes...kept one for the freezer and have been playing catch and release until my arms are about to fall off, really good run of upriver brights this year. Biggest one was probably around 40 pounds or so... I put 5 Lemon Skunk x KGB beans into the wet paper towel last night, and it looks like the Selene x Madonna plant is getting close to harvest time, lots of foxtails starting to grow out. A couple more weeks for the early LB x LT, and a couple more than that for the late one. Quicky smoke report- HLT-Lots of lemon on the inhale, sticks to your lips for a long time. Hashy flavor on the exhale, with an immediate kick in the head that lasts a long time. It was very easy to grow and trim, with big hard buds that have amazing bag appeal. You want dazed and confused? HLT will take you there. Sugar Punch x Madonna-Cherry flavored Sugar Punch, with a little less yield and somewhat leafier. Smooth and strong dreamy high, just like the mom, but ooooh that cherry flavor No pics right now, the girls are asleep... ...and I really need to catch up on some chores, all of my clothes smell like fish and my cat WILL NOT leave me alone. I think he gets stoned off the fish stink, sure acts like it. Later
kamut 219 Report post Posted September 15, 2014 What brand/size/type of silica rocks are you using? Sorry if you have that earlier in the thread. I'm re-reading from the beginning and it's taking awhile. I like you're emphasis on simplicity. I'm going to try a few hempy buckets when I re-start in a few weeks. Heya kamut http://www.growstone.com/hydroponic-substrate/ I'm using the large size, the small size is suited for mixing throughout the soil mix, while the large works well as a substrate on the bottom of the bucket. "Emphasis on simplicity"...I like that. I've always called it being lazy Still waiting for the LS x KGB beans to crack...reminds me, I need to go get some nutes, the Ripe jug is just about tapped out. feroce 331 Report post Posted September 20, 2014 Hey all So, out of the five LS x KGB I started, 2 popped just fine and are up, one cracked but seems to have stalled, and 2 rotted. Not surprised really, these are the oldest beans I have. Doing these 12/12 from start. The ladies...Selene x Madonna is the purple one. Another look at her. Just one more, she is a photogenic girl...not much odor, and mostly it's earth with a little grape whiff. The early LB x LT...can we say frosty? Put 5 KGB beans to soak, hope the germination is a little better this time. As for the next project, I'm still thinking about that...lemme paw through my bean box for a while. Later.

feroce 331 Report post Posted September 24, 2014 Man, I would love to do some salmon fishing! Promise I'll keep your spot a secret... Frosty like Wendy's, right?! Man that Redhead is hot. Peace- Real Heh, if I took you there, the old guy that owns the property would run us both off with a shotgun...I got permission to fish there only because I helped the guy out once in a tight situation. Cranky old coot even yells at boaters going by... News-The Selene x Madonna plant is down and drying, the early LB x LT is getting close, and the late one...still has a ways to go. The new bean pops...not good. The two LS x KBG that cracked did not survive...well, one did but never grew its first true leaves. None of the KGB beans have cracked...sigh. Also noticed The Gnats again, little bastids. Time to go into defensive mode. Again. Until I get them under control I won't be popping anything rare/expensive, will probably run the HLT/SP x M again, I have lots of them. So yeah, kinda disappointing this week Time to look for that bag of diatomaceous earth, I know it's around somewhere. Later.

feroce 331 Report post Posted October 9, 2014 How old are they-from seed-when you start feeding? That purple bud is beautiful btw. Heya kamut I feed every time I water, starting from seed. Coco fiber has no nutrients and won't hold nutes long either, so the rule is feed every time. Also means I don't wander around scratching my head, wondering if I fed them recently or not Update-got 4 more HLT beans up now, and put some Kollossus beans in the wet paper towels. LB x LT #1 is down and drying, # 2 will get at least another week. The Selene x Madonna...fluffy buds, light perfumey odor, tastes like dirt Hoping a longer cure will improve the flavor some...it gets you high is about the best you can say for it. That was just one plant though, so I'll try again later. Enjoying the last of the nice weather, the Long Gray Gloom is about to set in for the next 9 months... feroce 331 Report post Posted October 23, 2014 Let's see, what's new... The HLT plants are in the flowering tent...the two remaining, that is. Identified and removed two males, and topped the two girls. The Kollossus pop was a total failure, I let them get too cold and they died right after cracking Just cracked 5 more of the LB x LT beans, went into the solo cups today. Keeping them warm sure works better, doh! I'm smoking some of the LB x LT, and it's turning out to be the best of my pollen chucking efforts. The HLT is very strong, but a little harsh to smoke, great big rock solid buds...the SP x Madonna is very sweet but loses some weight compared to her mother. Kinda suggests my next project doesn't it The LB x LT...spear shaped solid buds with a strong, and I mean strong cat piss odor when drying and curing, somewhat less so after curing but still there, just a little more of the lemon coming through. Very frosty, with a powerful trippy high that sneaks up on you. Did I say frosty? Couple more pics in the Bud Pics thread...my poor kitty has been going nuts because of the odor. He keeps searching for the new cat... Anyways, now that the Wet Season has returned, I find myself unenthusiastic about sitting out in the rain and wind trying to catch a fish, so I'll probably be a little more active on the boards. Later...

feroce 331 Report post Posted October 24, 2014 ah, the fair weather fisherman. A man after my own heart. Nicely done feroce. Smoke some of that and you can imagine you are fishing... Indeed. I used to do the 'tough it out no matter the weather' thing...when I was half the age I am now. Now...not so much. I'd rather sit in my cozy little man cave and play the Elite:Dangerous beta for hours on end, fueled by much coffee and a big ol' Dutch style jointje of LB x LT.

feroce 331 Report post Posted November 6, 2014 yum yum the buds are frosty. that purp lady is beautiful. thanks for sharing. Yer welcome Couple of pics for y'all tonight, the two HLT ladies are doing their best to fill the tent all by themselves...super vigorous plants even in small containers. So of course next time I'm planning on running them in bigger buckets They've been topped and pruned to 6 stems, and I cleared some of the popcorn bud sites too. And the magic, she is beginning. Three of five LB x LT cracked survived, one did the 'stick its tail in the air' routine, and I culled a runt tonight. The survivors were up-potted and will get another week to root in before flipping. If I'm lucky and get a girl, I'll pull clones this time around. Wish I had last time, because I just took a big bong hit of the late pheno and I'm having a hard time making my fingers go where I want... Once the LB x LT hits the tent, I'll reach into the Magic Box for something new. Or old, depending on how many times I change my mind over the next week or so. Roodni 226 Report post Posted November 6, 2014 Those HLT are beautiful nice fat stems. I've never had the pleasure of smoking Selene or Lemon Thai but between other reports and your descriptions/pics I can say that I would love to! Great grow
feroce 331 Report post Posted November 18, 2014 Those HLT are beautiful nice fat stems. I've never had the pleasure of smoking Selene or Lemon Thai but between other reports and your descriptions/pics I can say that I would love to! Great grow Thanks Roodni Well folks, been an interesting couple of weeks...adventures like the toilet overflowing at 4:00 am kinda thing. Druther not go into details, it was...unpleasant. Anyway, on to some pics, got a little trigger happy this time...random order, random observations. HLT #1. I continue to be impressed by the structure, vigor and production of the HLT. The buds are rocks, BIG rocks and it's quite strong. HLT #2, this one is the slower pheno. Both of these girls were topped and pruned and have basically loved it. Both of them...look at the size of the plants, then look at the containers...under 4 liters. I have GOT to get some of these going in 11 liter buckets and scrogged. The LB x LT plants, topped last week. Haven't shown sex yet, but should be soon. Next three pics are the individual LB x LT plants. And of course, a little bud porn... As soon as the LB x LT...ok, I'm tired of typing that, time to shorten it a bit. It's now LBT, for Lemonberry Thai. So there. Ahem...as soon as the LBT sexes and I get at least one girl, I'll pull her out of the tent and take clones, fill up some empty jars. If I strike out and it turns into a sausage fest...well, I reckon I can do something about that Later...
feroce 331 Report post Posted December 18, 2014 A quicky update... One of the HLT plants started throwing nanners during a recent cold spell, guess she didn't like cold feet. The other is on final approach to harvest, will come down tomorrow. I didn't take clones form the LBT, she's a little mold-sensitive so I'll try again later. Popped 5 Cheeseberry Haze beans, they are about ready for transplant and flip. As soon as they sex, it's Chocolate Rain time. Not much else to report, other than being totally stressed out about the holidays again...tearing my hair out here ugh. Be glad when it's over and things go back to semi-normal. Later... feroce 331 Report post Posted January 19, 2015 Hiya folks...managed to survive the holidays with only minimal damage and minor bleeding... Lessee, what's going on with the plants...the HLT is being smoked, it's better taken at around 9 weeks instead of later, more of the lemon taste and less of the Heri hash taste. Here's the tent as of 15 minutes ago...one LBT about to come down and 3 Cheeseberry Haze girls just starting to form buds. The LBT girl, has had her final watering last night and will come down as soon as the coco dries out. Cheeseberry Haze #1, the shortest one and is forming buds quicker than the other two. CBH #2 CBH #3, the tallest of the three, all have been topped and will get their undersides trimmed up a little soon. And of course, a little bud porn. It's about time to make the next pop, going to dig through the Magic Box and pick something out. Five minutes later and I have the Silverfields packet in one hand and Chocolate Rain in the other...decisions are SO hard. Later all.

kamut 219 Report post Posted January 25, 2015 I just want to comment: I had hit the wall in terms of trying to be organic/water only indoors. I tried farming my own worms, using my own compost brought in from outside, Super Soil, re-using soil etc. It was good, but not great. Indoor growing is replicating an outdoor environment, and there is a difference between imitating the outdoors and making your indoor environment almost the same thing as the outdoors. To be honest, I just didn't have skill. Not having a way to exactly measure fertilizer, determine if something is completely composted, etc. was just beyond me. I had never tried any kind of hydro or overtly synthetic ferts and I was looking for a simple, easy-to-replicate recipe. I found this thread, and an Indican thread about coco and canna ferts. I just imitated both threads and got excellent results. I like the CNS 17 better because it's cheaper and you only use one or two bottles at a time, instead of 3. I got pretty much the same results otherwise between the two. Canna also requires an overall more complicated feeding schedule, with varying dosages, whereas with CNS 17 you run the same dosage week after week with fewer changes. I totally succeeded with this. I used 2.2 and 2.5 gallon buckets from the dollar store, a coco and perlite mix, perlite on the bottom, CNS 17, and supplemented with Protekt. Next time, I will try the straight coco, and eventually try Growstones, which are sold locally in my town. I have a lot of perlite to use up still. I thought the "Bloom" product worked well for me, even though you can combine Grow and Ripe to get the same product. I liked it because you then get to still use only one bottle which is better if I'm super stoned and "idiot proof" works for me. You may not use it as long, but you can get a smaller bottle or whatever. My plants grew bigger, faster, etc. with this and it was really easy. It also worked with my town's nasty tapwater, though I had to use a PH Down product. I like that I am using smaller containers, which is better for my back. I got good results in the same grow with 1. buffertabs and soil, and 2. a mixture of Fox Farms Happy Frog and Ocean Forest (this soil combo ran out of steam a little early unless it was in a much larger container, like 5 gallons vs. 3). I have a bad back and smaller containers are better. I just want to thank you for really helping to elevate my growing to the next level. I am totally doing this again next year.
