TSB's Round 2 - C99, BB, Jackberry & Sannie's Fems in HEMPY

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Welcome to ROUND 2. I wanted to make a new thread to showcase new genetics from Esko & Sannie and my first experience with Hempy buckets.

gallery_3438_3326_359920.jpg

Round 2 is all about looking for some keepers. I'm hoping to pick 3 keepers from 10-12 females.

Due to the summer heat, I'm just taking it easy, vegging under fluos until mid September.

I'll run a perpetual setup and harvest every 2 weeks for 2-3 months straight. By the new year, I want to fill the entire tent with clones from 2 keepers and just do 1 big SCROG.

The new genetics:

After 5.5 days in spongepots, they were ready to be transplanted

Alright, that's it for now, just wanted to get the thread started

I will update with the plants that have been in veg and reveg when I get home tonight.

This round is going to be a blast...

@ roborgro haha! l love that !

Luck is going to have lots to do with it, I don't have much experience with different mediums so this is very interesting to me.

And so far, it's been very manageable... but healthy plants can make one feel a little overconfident at times

I've still got 1 month of veg minimum, so plenty of time for any one of a dozen things to go wrong. :book:

quick update for the girls that have been in veg for 36 days:

gallery_3438_3326_76783.jpg

Jackberry X NYCD ( freebee )

she was fim'd once a few weeks ago

transplanted from red solo cup tp 1.5 gallon hempy 4 days ago

( hydrotron at the bottom to cover the drain hole and pure coco all the way to the top )

I watered about a gallon of low dose nutes: 5ml Grow CNS 17 + 1/8 tsp Silicon + 1 tsp endo bacto

she needed water 3 days later ( yesterday ) I watered again with the same mix until runoff

gallery_3438_3326_22251.jpg

same lady ( 90% sure, just have to see the white pistil! ) from above

this camera makes this a little too fluo color, she has a few dar silvery fan leaves and seems to be loving her new pot

Blueberry #1 - hoping it's a female, she got a bit of a shock in the transplant.

She is also in 1.5 gallon hempy

smaller leaves seem to want to reach like tacos, fan leaves can seem to prop up....

gallery_3438_3326_31858.jpg

and she looks depressed right?

Very healthy leaves in person, she is drinking and growing a little...

Just going to ride it out, don't want to do anything drastic

Kolossus #1 in 3 gallon hempy. I think these are more than 3 gallons... I paid $5 a pop for them

The 1.5 gallon is thinner cheaper plastic but wast $1 a piece. they only had 4

1.5 gallon seems like a great size pot for hempy if you have a short veg time

gallery_3438_3326_90079.jpg

gallery_3438_3326_77327.jpg

gallery_3438_3326_56696.jpg

She hasn't drank in 4 days. Maybe tomorrow.

and may friday be with you! lol

thanks for stopping by Don, the girls are looking better everyday.

I'm waiting for the seedlings to kick up a gear

2 more days and they should be getting 3rd and 4th set of leaves

different camera has little strange colors, too pale or too green

gallery_3438_3326_124062.jpg

bah... they look yellow! in person they are healthy though

that BB#3 is looking much better, lower growth and big fan leaves perked up and she started drinking more

more new growth showing female like preflowers...

just waiting for the first pistil to stick out, but she's a lady alright

gallery_3438_3326_362701.jpg

small pre-flowers everywhere, by next update she'll have shown I'm sure

love the full purple stems, off the main stem, the joints are fluo green

really pretty plant

I took a whole bunch more pictures but the camera didn't save them... or maybe I'm too stoned

haven't slept last night and got hit by a massive headache this morning so I stayed home

i'll try to get a picture of everyone in the tent later today

@nuggs - thanks for stopping by, I think I made a mistake in that last post, that purple martian is a BB#1

I just moved her into a bigger 7Gallon pot, help her bush out a little, we'll see how she is doing by next week

It's been a tough couple of weeks over here, but we're still trotting along

Still vegging Jackberry F4, Chucky's Bride, Holy Princess, two Esko Blueberry #3 and one riri SD X BB#3 male

Day 30 veg

Starting with Riri SourDiesel X Esko Blueberry #3

gallery_3438_3326_58968.jpg

gallery_3438_3326_29736.jpg

Esko's Blueberry #3 testers

gallery_3438_3326_122836.jpg

one tall one short... kinda like last time when I ran two #1

gallery_3438_3326_87511.jpg

hopefully I'll get 1 female right?

Chucky's Bride

gallery_3438_3326_198207.jpg

Seems like a couple C99 leaning on the left, Cheese leaning on the right, hybrid in the middle.

Holy Princess

gallery_3438_3326_77790.jpg

Very similar looking plants to the Chucky's Bride i think

And the Jackberry F4 looks great too but I messed up the group photo

inside a JB F4:

that's it for this update

I took clones last night of all the big ladies in the tent

gallery_3438_3326_28827.jpg

I've got 1 clones of each:

Jackberry X NYCD freebee

Esko BB#1

Sugar Punch 1 ( from reveg )

Sugar Punch 2

Mad Shack 1 ( from reveg )

Mad Shack 2

Kolossus 1 ( from reveg )

Kolossus 2

Ko Kush ( from reveg )

I took new photos of Sannie's Jackberry F4

gallery_3438_3326_200473.jpg

They look pretty homogenous

Easy going to far - squat & dense with mild indica leaves

Very few hints of color yet, I'm really hoping for 1 green and 1 dark pheno

gallery_3438_3326_66785.jpg

close up shot of Jackberry #2

I started to see some pre-flower growth on one of the Chucky's Bride

gallery_3438_3326_48307.jpg

Looks like lady - sorry for the crap photo

Here is a full shot of Chucky's Bride #1

gallery_3438_3326_169900.jpg

She is one of the taler C99 crosses - 1 inch above the rest

Overall, these C99 crosses are not showing extreme pheno range

Should be interesting to see any differences that will come up later

Just one more pic - Jackberry X NYCD freebee

gallery_3438_3326_180839.jpg

she was topped and has 3 main branches - I am doing LST to the tallest branch, need to get her to bush out a little

Looks way more indica then the last JB NYCD freebee I ran - she's got tight nodes and is starting to smell a little

@ twizzle - I've trying to keep things healthy, still have burnt tips on the Kolossus and Blueberry

really hoping it's sorted and that the new growth is better

@ LaVie - the new genetics are really fun

I was expecting more diversity - I think I will have a hard time deciding which to toss

The temperatures are holding steading in the high 90s so we're still holding off switching to flowering...

soon... very very soon

The big girls are crowing my space and I'm sick of dumping 2 gallons of H20 just to trim the growth back 3 days later

peace & be safe

Transplanted the females to 2 gallon square pots today

gallery_3438_3326_85221.jpg

I was getting nute burn and deficiencies all at the same time

Pretty sure the roots were not a fan of the solo cup 1/3rd filled with hydrotron

Last time I kept plants in straight coco in solo cups until they were 3 times the size of these without the burn + def.

gallery_3438_2868_15507.jpg

see? that was Kolossus from last round - Big plants in small cup with just straight coco

With the hydrotron in the bottom, growth was half the speed over the course of 30 days+

Strangely, in the big pots ( 3 gallons ) the hydrotron works exactly as it should- provides a 3 inch water reservoir at the bottom of the pot

I transplanted into a light soil mix with a little EWC and 1 buffer tab

that should take care of the deficiencies

I can still use 1/4 or 1/2 dose of the CNS 17 as needed, but I think I prefer a more organic method - a little more self regulating

Chucky's Bride #1

gallery_3438_3326_163033.jpg

She was topped once last week, got a big drink of plain water right after I took this

I got 3 Chucky females, 1 suspected male and 1 unknown

Holy Princess #2

gallery_3438_3326_55767.jpg

Also 1 of 3 females, and still 2 unknowns

JackBerry F4 #5

gallery_3438_3326_81556.jpg

I got 2 females, killed off 3 males ( one was really good looking, hurt to throw him out but I have no space for seeds now )

Both the females are dense and squat and didn't develop the deficiencies the C99 crosses did

One has a darker stem, one lighter... I'm still hoping for a green and a purple pheno

Same lady but from above

gallery_3438_3326_2644.jpg

The 3 males all looked a little different:

gallery_3438_3326_34597.jpg

that middle fella already had a dozen balls on him... maybe round 3 or 4 will include males...

So I still have 2 Blueberry #3 that I am unsure about ( don't want to transplant for nothing right )

I now think the tall one is a lady and the short one a male... we'll see

I had 1 ( out of 2 ) of the Riri SourD X Blueberry survive but I now think he's male ( a day away from knowing for sure looks like )

I leave you today with a new shot of the veg tent... completely overfilled by the 4 main ladies from round 1:

Sugar Punch, Mad Shack, Kolossus and a recovering Blueberry #1 ( I transplanted her from 1.5 gallons to 7 gallons of light soil with 2 buffer tabs and she is doing MUCH better )gallery_3438_3326_115837.jpg

We're having a heat wave ( again ) in october...

It was 103 yesterday at 6 pm - so still no flowering room action

Kind of a bummer, but I'm hoping the extra veg will pay off kindly

peace & be safe

Damn, thats the worst... It doesn't seem to have caused too much damage, they all look pretty healthy.

It's too bad you lost one of the riri's. Hopefully that last one does turnout to be a chick.

I'd like to see someone grow these out... It's gonna be awhile until I get a chance to pop mine.

I'm diggin' that back row of bushes in the last pic. Nicely done! Keep up the good work.

Peace

Do you scrog this time ?

All looking very healthy.

Is that a Quantum t-5 fixture in your veg tent? What size and how do you like it? How much control over the number of tubes that light up at a time?

I've got another brand of 4' x 8 tube and I like it's performance, but it's not always in use, and I've heard the Quantums can fold up to some extent. Do you find that feature useful?

My veg space is fill by CFL 125W. When the bulbs will be at their end of life, i will switch back to T(x). Nothing better for seedling and early cuttings.

Yea... Yellowing leaves at the bottom with nasty brown spots and then nute burn higher up...

for sure the hydrotron balls were doing more harm then good in the small cups

gallery_3438_3326_6865.jpg

this is one of the Chucky's Bride that hasn't shown sex yet.

You can see how bad the lower leaves get

Looks like N deficient and Mg lockout at the same time

The Riri SD X BB was male - he's gone

too bad... still have 3 seeds thought for next time

I need to move those bushes into flowering... hopefully next week

All the girls that I moved to the new pots are happy as hell

2 jacberries on the left side

top row of 3 are Chucky's Bride

Bottom 3 are Holy Princess

Jackberry is opening up a bit

gallery_3438_3326_46495.jpg

still short and dense but already responding to the larger root space

The damage will be forgotten soon enough

now that they are in bigger pots with soil, we're safe

I think I will scrog the babies

not sure what I will do with some of the bushes that need to go into flowering

maybe just let them go... if they get too high i'll bend them

It's only 3 plants and I'll rip off all the popcorn buds early on

All looking very healthy.

Is it a Quantum T5 - 4 foot long 8 bulb

I have 6 blue bulbs and 2 red for a little mix

You can turn on the outer 4 bulbs or the inner 4 bulbs or all 8

It came folded up, and you have to assemble it

I would not trust it to repeat breakdown and rebuild.. the threads are not very good and a for sure you will strip them ( paint in the threads, threads that aren't straight...)

So when I break down for sure it will b practical to have it smaller... but how well I will put it back together... we will see

Overall I like it because I haven't tried anything else

but I know that it has shortcomings... I'll make a post about that during the week... interesting topic actually

My veg space is fill by CFL 125W. When the bulbs will be at their end of life, i will switch back to T(x). Nothing better for seedling and early cuttings.

everything has it's optimal use...

I like my fluos T5... but for the bigger plants... what a PITA

great strains, and good to new E$ko's strains

:specool

Thanks! I can't wait to have all these get big enough to throw into flowering... gona be fun for sure

The girls you moved to the new pots definitely look happier.

I can feel a sigh of relief just by looking at the pictures.

Fresh pots, fresh soil... the ball is rolling. :verrygood

Everyday they look better, the leaves are getting darker, they are reaching and stretching.

I watered them again today with plain water, they should get enough nutrition from the soil for a little while and then I can start with nutes very slowly

I also up-poted the Jackberry X Nycd ( freebee ) into a 3 gallon pot with 1 buffer tab and some light soil + coco mix + EWC

I bent her bigger tops and started tying her down...

I cleaned out the flowering room, windexed the hood, checked for light leaks

switched the bulb to the MH so I can transition for 1-2 weeks

I need to wash the walls clean and and we'll be firing up the second room!

Sugar Punch, Madshack and Kolossus ready to flower

Blueberry and Jackberry X NYCD will be 2-3 weeks behind them

The C99 crosses and Jackberry F4 2 weeks behind that

stagger things a little...

I will try to do a more straightforward comparison of the phenos as the differences become more apparent

Yesterday the Kolossus was already showing some pistil productiongallery_3438_3326_120400.jpg

A little hard to see, but I thought that was a lot of white hairs for 2 days @ 12/12

I think she had started to auto flower a little bit 2 days before I flipped... maybe why she looks ahead now

I have a clone of her, we'll see if the clone auto flowers as well
