After a rather disappointing Huckleberry Kush run where 9 outta 10 turned up male I have filled up the flower room again. This time I know they are all girls.

I purchased 4 clones to go with my single Huck Kush a few weeks ago. After 3 weeks of vegging they have joined her in the flower room. The HK is at 4 weeks since the switch to 12's and the Blackberry Kush, Bubba Kush, Purple Elephant and Purple Walrus are all finishing their first week in the flower room.

Here's a look at the girls -

Though it was pita only getting the one female HK she has turned out to be a very nice specimen. When she was less than 4 weeks old she looked more Bubba dom but after that she really stretched out and is definitely leaning the Huckleberry way. Though slow to show sex and rather slow to start vertical growth she has been a very vigorous girl since about week 5 when she started stretching out all over. I switched her to 12's @ 19" after 6 weeks of vegging and she is now @ 34" and slowing a bit. She is developing nicely now with much frostiness. I hit her with some HK pollen 2 days ago. The pollen came from a very nice Huckleberry dom male so I have high hopes for the resulting seeds.

Here's a few pics of the Huckleberry Kush

I am filled with anticipation for this HK girl, she is looking really good @ 4 weeks. Can hardly wait to see her @ 8 weeks.

So, now let me introduce you to the rest of the family.

The Purple Elephant and Purple Walrus are very similar in appearance so far. The PW was a bit faster growing but they both took off outta the gate. After 3 weeks of vegging they were 20" tall and went to the flower room. A week later they are 34" tall and still going strong. Very different structure than the others, tall and skinny. I think when I run their clones I can put them 2 to a pot.

Purple Walrus

Next up is the Blackberry Kush. She was @ 14" tall when she went to the flower room. After a week she is @ 21" and sporting a very nice figure. She looks like she'll need some trussing up down the road. Those long horizontal limbs are gonna get heavy.

The Bubba Kush must feel at home here amongst the variants of her genes, however indirectly.

She and the Blackberry are the same height but the Bubba has shorter more vertical branching.

I'll try to update these every couple weeks or so. Definitely be posting some porn when that HK girl chunks up a little.

:D

I will be cheering for much success on this run. I have 2 packs of these HK and fixing to germ 5 when a friend of mine gets her doc to sign the paper tomorrow and process the papers through the post office. Thanks for sharing your grow with us, looking good for a solid harvest. Peace.

Things really do work out in the end BB that HK is already triched out and looks like she's going to start throwing out some color. Everything in your room looks happy and healthy and here's hoping it stays that way :)

hey thanks Rev.

I am relly impressed with the HK so far. She has huge fan leaves (eleven fingered) but her structure is pretty open. I haven't had to manipulate her at all beyond tucking a few leaves here and there.

I've gone organic (mostly) with this grow so it has been a new experience for me. Figuring out soil mixes, additives and all has been an education but so far the girls seem to agree with the new regime. The next few weeks will tell with the HK. Hopefully she will be a happy girl and not find any deficiencies. Fingers crossed.

There have been some big changes in my grow area lately. I added a door awhile back so now I have a 4.5' x 8' flower room of which 4.5' x 5.5' is actual grow area. This gave me a small space for sprouting / vegging which I have divided vertically into two 3'x2' spaces.

Below I have the Sprout-O-Matic that serves both seeds and clones. It gives them a nice warm and humid environment. My homemade bubble cloner fits on it and it keeps the water temp just right. In the space above that I have the 200w cfl (soon to be 45w led's) veg area. I can veg 6-8 plants for 3-4 weeks in this space.

While it is nice to have an almost full grow room again it is even sweeter to have a veg room full of girls just waiting their turn. I must admit I am a bit pleased with myself. It has been over 30 years since I attempted to clone anything. Back in the day I used dixie cups filled with perlite. Worked fine but took a couple weeks minimum. These days bubble cloners seem all the rage so I built myself one modeled on some I found on the web. After it's maiden voyage I am pleased to announce it works like a charm. After 10 days I have roots galore and the cuts look like they never left the plant.

Here's a look at my new area before the larger girls were moved to the flower room last week. The 2 small ones are cuts from the Huckleberry Kush. You'll see them again in the pics farther down.

Here's the new bubble cloner at work.

I took 2 cuts from the Huck Kush when I switched her to 12's. I also took one when she was 3 weeks into flower (pictured above) because I wanted to see how long/well it rooted and reverted. That cut and the Blackberry Kush cut were taken 2 days after the others so they will get a couple more days. The rest are all potted and moved upstairs to join the older HK cuts.

@Silva - thanks man, I think a new light will shine on this grow soon. :whistling

@ midnight - yes, this is much better now. I will indeed keep this Huck Kush going. The mom is 5 weeks into flower now and looking incredible. I haven't figured out her smell yet, it is very different and complex. A little bit of fruity smell for sure and a sweetness too but there is more that I cannot identify. She has very dense saucer shaped buds at this point, I will have to post a couple pics soon as she is very much worth looking at now. Thanks for dropping in. :)

having veggers ready to go is where it's at!

it takes planning and consistency, but it's a great feeling when the whole operarion runs smooth and flows well.

clone machine is the only way to go - 90% + success rate in 10 days. really helps with keeping the veg side stocked.

I am more impressed with this Huck Kush girl as each week passes. She has such nice form that I barely mess with her. She is packing on trich's like they're being sprayed on with a drywall gun. Seriously, I can't believe the the mass of trich's showing @ 5 weeks.

She has distinct saucer shaped buds that are just beginning to get some vertical to them. Very dense and gooey. I think some pics will tell the story better...

And, here's a look at the top of Purple Elephant @ 2 weeks flowering. The Purple Walrus looks very similar. I think these will be nice producers in the end.

That's all for now. :D

I thought I should take a minute to talk about a big difference in my growing style this round. I have switched to organic nutes for the most part, though I still use a little KoolBloom a couple times mid flower. My motivation was mostly convenience. I am trying to automate the process as much as possible and not having to mix nutes all the time is a big time saver. The Blumats have been a real help also and I can't recommend them enough.

So, here's what I came up with after much consideration.

For the grow mix I used the following for every 10 gallons of soil/perlite mix.

2 cups Whitney Farms Organic All Purpose

1/2 cup Bone Meal

1/2 cup Dol. Lime

3/4 cup Azomite

Myco added @ up-pot's

This has worked pretty well so far. I may adjust the Whitney Farms down a bit on future mixes as I'm concerned it may last longer than I need it too. Might increase the lime a bit as well, I'm not sure this is enough and more won't hurt.

The Bloom mix is the same except I'm using Organicare Pure Bloom mixed in at a rate of 1.25 cups per 10 gallons. It does not last as long as the grow nutes so I have to reapply it every 3 weeks. I do this by making 4 deep holes with a screwdriver and filling them with the Organicare granules. So far the Huck Kush seems to like it.

Once a week I hand water them with a mixture of Humega and Cal-mag+. I've never used anything as messy as Humega. It is humanly impossible to pour from it's container without making a mess so I found a squirt bottle at the kitchen store and things are much tidier now.

So that's it. The Huck Kush seems to be liking it so far. She is coming up on 6 weeks since the flip and is not showing any deficiencies yet. Round 2 of the bloom nutes should be almost used up now so we'll see how she does with the Humega and Calmag watering the rest of the way. I did hit her with Koolbloom @ weeks 4.5 and 5.5 so she should be good for P-K anyway.

Any comments / suggestions are sure welcome. :)

Nice project you have. I have gotten the Purple Walrus at a dispensary here. Nice looking buds, and not a top-shelf price. I cannot remember if I had a chance to smoke any of it... My girl finishes off bags of weed faster than I can buy them. Funny thing is, she says I got her started smoking again after years of not. Ooops!

I have two clones of my pure sativa Col Jam in a little pot. I want to see how that goes myself. I lost track of where the the second clone came from... I think it is a top that got broken off one of the plants and I stuck it in a pot with a clone in it. Since these are currently un-sex'd I could concievably have two sexes in the same pot. Either way it goes, I go with the flow and will make a decision once I know.

I always enjoy reading you man, nice thread.

Hey randude, I see the purples at a few dispensaries in the region when looking online. Seems to be a popular one in this neck of the woods anyway.

I'm not seeing much difference between the walrus and the elephant at 2 weeks flowering. They look very much like twins with the walrus having slightly better form. I've had to double up on the velcro tape holding them down as they keep pulling free.

Thanks for dropping by and good luck w/those Col Jam's.

What is that strange glow coming from the veg room?

gallery_7905_3866_10692.jpg

A peek behind the panel shows the 200w cfl is gone and 2 - 22.5w led lights have taken its place.

gallery_7905_3866_146811.jpg

So far, they seem to like it. :)

Simple, well designed and constructed from quality materials, these lights will pay for themselves both in reduced power usage and happier little ones. :verrygood
