After growing Sannie's Shop selections for the past five grows, this next one (seeds are soaking) is the work of Dynasty (Pineapple Fields - not sold in Sannies Shop for some reason, maybe too pricey), Jordan of the Islands (Blue Hawaiian), Peak Seeds (Northern Skunk) and Indican (double koosh x Herijuana).

Blue Hawaiian and Pineapple Fields should be high flying sativa doms. Northern Skunk is a hybrid, and DK x Heri is part of Indicans plan for world Heri domination. This could be a long flower period for the BH. JOTI only says "65 days+" for flower time, and then they go on to almost apologize for the long flower time. Since it seems Canadian breeders are allergic to reporting flowering times greater than 9 weeks, it probably took a lot for them to spit out 65+ days. I'm guessing more like 80 - 90, but I hope I'm pleasantly surprised. A good sativa with a decent yield is worth 13 weeks to me, but an 11 or 12 weeker sure would be nicer.

A pack of God Bud is racing its way to me right now. Esko's thread about it got me interested. Depending on when it gets here, a couple of those might end up in the crowded room, too. If not, it will wait until next fall.

Since a couple of these are strains that no one has reported on here yet, I'll try and do an actual JOB of this grow report. I can't promise a GOOD JOB, but you can count on it being at least kinda mediocre. In other words, an improvement over my previous work. The pics will still suck, don't get me wrong. Miracles will not happen.

Subbed for this one man. My Pineapple Field is doing pretty good. I had a really high M:F on the PF. I have no doubt she will be a winner, though.

P.S. I completely agree with you regarding 9+ week varieties. The longer the better. :)

It will be hi-def with dolby surround sound, but 3D is too much stress on the plants.

OK, here we GO! I soaked the little buggers in a H2O2 solution overnight, and they are now in spongepots. To help you imagine the situation, here's an award winning picture.

Maybe it's a little to early to make such judgements, but it seems to me that even though these are four different strains, they're all the same pheno so far! Yeah, maybe the newbies wouldn't have noticed, but a seasoned grower like myself takes in these observations.

So we're starting with 18 seeds, and the ~plan~ is to end up with 6 to 9 girls. If more come along, they're welcome, provided they're not runts. If fewer come along, well aw fuck! I don't think BH or PF would play nicely with a smaller, less mature plant I put in the flower room a couple of weeks late. I need to check my mailbox to see if those God Bud seeds are there. If so, there could be a couple more joining the party.

Come on Mr. D, Get a booster chair for the runts, over in the corner perhaps.

was there supposed to be marijuana plants in the photo? I may need to get my old eyes checked. Looked like a bunch of white flags.

I do that all the time with my mixed strain grows. There are always medium to tall plants, and there's often a short indica up on a pedestal of some kind. Every grow they need a different sized "booster chair." It would be a relief if DK x Heri turned out to be medium to tallish. Right now, a Mad Scientist is sitting at the Big Boy's Table on a booster seat.

I'm sure the color of your eyes is fine. No one needs checked, plaid or paisley eyes. Jeez, is that what the kids are into today? I thought you'd be mature enough to avoid that shit.

I see that Skunk may show a purple pheno. That would be sexy.

I'm no mastah, but I had a brief whirl with God Bud. If you are going to clone it, bring your best game. I had a helluvah time. They took a long time, and I wasn't giving them enough light (18/6, just too far away for too long) and they started flowering on me. I had to give up, sadly. I understand it is some great smoke.

That would be a shame if I can't get a cut. The seeds haven't gotten here yet, so that will be a problem for the future. They seem to use God Bud a lot in breeding, so it must be possible to keep it.

It's kind of funny. Just before my seeds sprout, and that was the day I wrote that last post, I'm always worried that they WON'T sprout, that I'll have major seed viability problems. Well, at this point all but one heri x DK is up. Northern Skunk was the most vigorous, then Pineapple Fields. This will be a fun grow. I'm hoping to find at least one super-creative, crazy-thought, edge-of-insanity sativas in the PF or BH. I want to think the way a person would think if they truly had checked eyes.

I promise a full report on all these strains, assuming I get worthy plants from all.

As for purple phenos, both the Northern Skunk and the Blue Hawaiian seedlings include some that already have a purple/red tint. If you've ever grown a purple KF, you'll know what I'm talking about.

I don't care about color in buds at all, but they sure do look good. Show me two equally fantastic bud porn shots, one with purple or red coloring and one with green coloring, and I'll vote for the red/purple one every time. One of the main consumers of my weed has a spontaneous orgasm when he sees purple buds.

Almost every time I smoked purple weed it was not as good as it looked. Just my experience. It sells like crazy in the clubs though. Go figure.

I just planted two seeds of Road Kill Skunk BX. Hopefully I will get a nice female out of the two. I think I have like five seeds. Lets see if my house can handle a Road Kill Skunk lol.

My dog Guiness killed a skunk one time then come running into the house crying. He ran into the closet, on the bed, rolled on the carpet and then just laid at our feet crying. We cried too. He had a yellowish streak across his head. We did everything to get rid of that smell (tomato products etc) and still, 6 months later if he got wet from rain or a bath it would come back again. I never thought we would lose that smell.

He is crazy when it comes to wild animals. He has to kill them. I don't know what would happen if he ever encountered a big animal. That may be the end of him. I seen him bite an oppossum in half with one bite. He did it so fast there was no way I could stop him. He wouldn't do that to a little dog or cat. Just wild animals.

In my experience, whenever I've grown a strain that has purple and green phenos, the green ones are more potent. I have not tried a green KF, and there may very well be strains with powerful purple or red phenos, just as powerful as green phenos. I just haven't tried them.

This is not the case if only the fan leaves turn color, late in flowering.

BTW, I just had a lesson on CHEAPING OUT ON SOIL. I've been using a brand called Dr. Earth. It's really good, has aloe, myco and other assorted good microbes, but it's about $14/bag. I got some crap called "Pete's" instead, and my seedlings were NOT HAPPY. One PF got what appears to be an Mg deficiency. On many others, the cotyledon leaves turned yellow or red/purple when they should have been bright green, acting like regular leaves.

Yesterday I took them out of their pots, shook most of the soil off, and planted them back in some good ol' Dr. Earth, with a little organic 4-4-4, dolomite and Sannie's myco. I think I have some bacto somewhere, so that will be going on them, too. They look much better this morning already.

You know, I thought I learned my lessons on crappy soil long ago. I guess they didn't take. Maybe this time.

I never spend a lot of soil, but do not buy the cheapest stuff at the home centers either.

I have to look at the last soil I bought, it says organic on bag. I still mix perlite with it no matter what and a few other things.

After 15 days of vegging (a few have a few more days in there, and one of the Heri x DK plants has about 13) all 18 plants are healthy and strong. Decent soil and a shot of bacto seemed to work wonders.

These are the Pineapple Fields plants:

gallery_3138_4040_41376.jpg

So far I'm seeing somewhat tall (but the tallest is only 6" or 15 cm, for those who don't use god's chosen system of measurement) sativa dom leaves. These guys really suffered from the crappy soil, but have completely come out of it.

These are the Blue Hawaiians:

gallery_3138_4040_1625.jpg

Not only do the leaves look more to the indica side than the PF, but they're also shorter/squatter plants. I believe these are considered stretchy, so this might pass. They did not suffer as much as the PF from the crappy soil, but they were not happy.

These are the Northern Skunks:

gallery_3138_4040_491968.jpg

They're all tall, strong F1 hybrids. They were not thrilled with the shitty soil, but they were hurt the least of these "store-bought" strains.

Here are the three Heri x Double Koosh:

gallery_3138_4040_224951.jpg

These plants DIDN'T GIVE A SHIT about the crappy soil, and continued to grow at their own pace, without deficiency symptoms. The one at the bottom is smaller because it sprouted about 4 days after everything else was up. They responded well to the better soil + nutes. I think these will be relatively carefree plants.

Today I got a check for $100 for being one of a zillion plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit -- something to do with a mortgage I took out in 1999, but I have no idea what it's really about. Anyway, I'm taking that as a sign from god that I should try smart pots or geopots this grow. Anyone have an opinion on which of these fabric pots are better?

I am having some crappy soil issues right now, perhaps from recycling the soil, and have to deal with it. Maybe it is a bit too much on the nutes. At any rate I was going to get new organic soil today and ended up not going. I will go for sure tomorrow. I am sort of beat from all the driving for the holidays and stress from work. I will get the soil tomorrow though and some new bloom nutes.

For the last couple months I have been using water from the tap. I fill up these milk jugs and let them sit for a day or two before using them. My Blue Dream, Herijuana 1 fem, and Red Dream Skunk seem to be doing just fine, but my Grape Ape has been acting kind of sick. A couple of them are huge and I may have retarded flowering on them. Even my new girl scout cookies is looking great. Just the Grape Apes are going ape. So one other thing I am doing is going back to bottled water. I get 3 five gallon jugs month and seem to only use 2. In the past couple of months I managed to collect 3 extra bottles. I will try pure bottled water for awhile and see if that helps.

Your plants look great to me.

BTW, my Col Jam looked like indica dom plants in the early stages. After about a foot tall they started to look like the classic sat

Glad you found them a good home, they look good. I am cheering for that Skunk to hold it's own beside your other finery, which all sound like win.

Wrecks, I think the Northern Skunk will be a major performer, at least as far as growth and yield goes. I also have Peak's Sweet Skunk IBL seeds on hand. Peak describes them both as "very strong" as opposed to their weaker strains that are merely "strong." Since I've never seen a report, it's a mystery. As with most Canadian strains, it's fast, about 8 weeks. We'll know in March.

Hi Mr Dirt, nice grow awesome strains, I use smart pots and have for a while. I love them, I have never used the more expensive GeoPots or any of the other ones..... I never felt the need , smart pots work just great for me. The root mass has always been awesome since I started using them, the plants don't get root bound at all. The root tips grow into the cloth and air prune . My grows have been much happier since I started using them. The only downside is they dry out faster than hard pots and require more watering, for me no big deal, as I have a smallish set up, but if you have a big grow it may be harder to stay on top of the watering . Anyway, awesome grow my friend , just got an awesome stove top popcorn maker for Xmas...... I'm putting my feet up for this one, with and endless supply of micro brand non gmo popcorn!!! Yeah, I've been called a hippy before....
