Reallate1 97 Report post Posted August 6, 2014 As mentioned in another thread, three weeks ago I popped some new seeds. Here we are at the point of first transplant, so it's a good time to start a new log. Here we go- this is the pop... Week two Week Three Next stop is 4l pots. That will be later today, with pics to follow. Questions and comments are welcome as always. Enjoy the show- Real

Reallate1 97 Report post Posted August 7, 2014 First off, welcome foodstuffs and thanks for looking in! I've done the Princess but not the Bride... So we'll see what their offspring will do- So as the lineup sits right now, from left to right we have 7x SPGxBB, then 4 Boudica, then 10 Bluehammer. A couple pics for ya- I don't seem to ever see many pics of roots. I think many growers, especially newer ones don't understand the importance of nice, healthy roots. I *always* concern myself with root health and watch for signs of trouble. A few of these seedlings have signs of overwatering... You can see it in leaf droop and some slight yellowing in the lowermost leaves themselves. These next couple shots are of some nice, healthy roots from a couple of the SPGxBB. I didn't think to snap pics of the overwatered ones until after the fact- duh... The last pic is a closer-up view of the first one, you can see the hairs growing out from the main roots pretty well. For being only 3 weeks old, some of these were actually becoming fairly rootbound. Pretty good production imo... Hats off to the breeders! Let's see how many females we can come up with, eh? Until next update- Real

Reallate1 97 Report post Posted August 7, 2014 Boudica and Bluehammer will be on my list Hey, Shed! both of these crosses are mainly E$ko influenced genetics- Boudica, of course, is the Holy Princess x Chuckies Bride and the Bluehammer was originally advertised as a one-time release from a Sannie (Jackhammer) and E$ko (Blueberry) collaboration. It's been a while so correct me if I am mistaken, veteran OpG friends... This particular variety is a special pheno that was discovered and produced by moderator extraordinaire, Scone of Ark. It is a purple, and I mean purple like I haven't seen before. I was quite lucky to have procured these beans and am really excited to see what they'll do. You won't go wrong with either one, I'm sure. @Rev, thanks for the kind words and looking in on the thread. I have a lot of respect for your work and opinion. I try to always be respectful to the people who do the Hard work to bring top notch genetics to the "common man" growers like me. Yes, I grew the roots, but the breeders made it possible and I appreciate it. I like to give credit where it's due. I believe it's good for the Karma factor. @Indican, my Steeler lovin' brother... WTF is up?! Hey- we finally got a ring, man- although it really should be #2, but you know what's up with that. Lol... I see you still have the goods rolling- very cool! I actually mentioned you in a previous post a while back. You know I didn't forget you! @Santero brother, good to see you popping in! Thanks for the support. I didn't try the spg x c99, but I did run some Sour Cindy from brother E$ko- the thing of this is, with all the BB seeds he gave away I sure as hell didn't see many grow reports. It is entirely possible that I missed them because of my absence, but I am Damn sure going to put mine up. If nothing else it's a show of gratitude, and a bit of a tribute to our fallen brother Maverick. He would have wanted to see the Bluehammer for sure- so there is a bit of extra passion in this particular grow... Not that there isn't always- this is just a bit special. One thing to say about the Sweet Berry... Three weeks old and Damn, the pungent smell of grapefruit is already there when the leaves are just touched. It reminded me of the Damnesia I grew oh so long ago. Me likey! The Bluehammer looks strong... Big ol' fat leaves make me believe it will be much more BB leaning. This excites me, as my patients like some heavy indicas. Boudica, at this point, seems to be growing the typical thin, Sativa style leaves. I loved the Princess and am pretty stoked to sample this fine cross. I was also gifted some Sugar Punch x Madonna beans and as promised, I will be popping some of those now that I have room in the starter area again. I've heard a lot about Sugar Punch and I grew Madonna once upon a time, so I am pretty excited about this one too. Good stuff cooking at the Real residence... Glad to be back at it! Until next time, friends- Real
starinhazy 2,938 Report post Posted August 8, 2014 Hey Real - sounds like quite a lineup, looking forward to seeing how you work these plants. I have run Chucky's several times, but never the princess or boudica. Chuckys is an amazing plant, little lanky and can need support at times, but great buds kinda pointy indica type dense buds, I have seen quite a pallate of colors in mine, sativa type high on the front with a slow drift on the backstroke, nice buzz. Flavors I get range from sweet rotten pineapple, skunky, cheese. Hope you find a keeper.... Best of success in your grow and keep'em green.
islayhearts 1,911 Report post Posted August 8, 2014 Real, I grew some Boudica when I didn't know what I was doing. Still don't really :-) each pheno was nice. Most needed some type of support during late flowering. I liked both phenos I got but one was just amazing. Red fruit, apples maybe, dense buds, wasn't the greatest yielder but that was okay. Those sugar punch x madonna sound like a wet dream!!!! Watching this grow with great anticipation!
Roodni 226 Report post Posted August 8, 2014 Hey Reallate, Glad to see a grow by you again, the last one I remember the plants looked superb so I'm looking forward to see how you fair with the Boudica and Blue Hammer (been eyeing both). I think the Blue Hammer was bred by Sannie's crew, with Jackhammer, Jackberry and BBI (one of the Sannie meets Motarebel phenotypes) being involved. All the best dude!
Poldergrower 6,514 Report post Posted August 9, 2014 @ Reallate, Nice plants, enjoy youre grow. Blue Hammer will not dissapoint you... Roodni is spot on, he has the lineage right its just in reverse... Knutsel made them a few years ago. Reallate1 97 Report post Posted August 11, 2014 Well, this will be my third attempt at a reply. I hope it's more successful than the last two, or I might just throw this brand new phone- and that would be bad... @starinhazy and islay, thanks for stopping in. Normally I would set you up with some popcorn and a nice joint, but I can't seem to find the emoticons. :/ @Roodni and Poldergrower, thanks for the clarification. I must have been thinking of Walhalla... I know that that one along with Bluehammer were released at about the same time- I grabbed some of both while I could and grew them out, but Damn that seems like a lifetime ago. So I got the Sugar Punch x Madonna seeds down in dirt. Those are some virile beans, I tell you what. 7 out of 10 had large, visible tails after the soak... It was like they just couldn't wait to get out of their shells. I am having a bit of an issue. I'm sure I brought it on myself. In case you don't know (which I'm sure you don't since I haven't posted a grow in forever), I use Botanicare nutes exclusively. The Pure Blend Pro line to be precise. Well I decided to try adding silica blast to the regimen in an effort to bulk them up a bit. Now, being an organic, soil grower I don't have much of an idea what a ph meter looks like- much less how to use one. (Ok I'm kidding here, I do have a bit of a clue). At any rate, I think I'm seeing a bit of a lockout in a couple of the Bluehammers. Only a couple, mind you- but it's there. I guess if I'm going to continue the blast, I'll have to adjust the ph of the water first. That leads me to the question... Any of you guys that have used either Silica Blast, or another type of silicate, find it worth the effort? I'm wondering if it's worth the trouble since I almost never have any nutes issues and this one started immediately. What do you think? Keep at it or give it up as a bad experiment... I'll post pics in the next update... They're really taking off other than the above mentioned issue. Real
feroce 331 Report post Posted August 14, 2014 Ha, found you! Keeping an eye on this...I like adding silica to my coco grows, the plants hold up under hot conditions much better than plants without it and seem to be sturdier in build also. Easiest way to do it is to add some Growstones to your soil mix, they're made from recycled glass and the plants take what they need, no chance of overdoing it like you can with the liquid solutions. My local hydro store has them, lemme know if you have a problem finding them and I'll run a bag out to you. Comes in two sizes, chunky and pea-gravel size. Catch any thunderstorm action last night? Had a nice rumbler pass over at around 3:30 this morning... Later.
Reallate1 97 Report post Posted August 14, 2014 Feroce! What's up man?! I didn't catch the big storm, but Damn was I grateful for the rain... We haven't had any of the thunder and lightning here for whatever reason. Much as I enjoy it, it scares the hell out of the kids- funny stuff! Glad you found my secret squirrel hideout- Roflmao!!! So there's news in the real garden... First off, here's a pic of the worst- suffering bluehammer. An overview of the group Check out the alternating nodes on this roughly one month old Boudica... Three of the four are *already* clearly showing sex... The fourth is right behind... I have an idea but not quite ready to call it. I'll go out on a limb and say three out of the four are female! Woot! Woot! Now this is really blowing my mind, and I'm just going to go ahead and throw this out there- Jump on feroce's offer to us Washington growers regarding his crosses. Look, here's the thing. I was gifted some of his SP x Madonna, I'll be showing them soon. I soaked them overnight from the 8th to the 9th. I planted them the night of the 9th. Within 24 hours several had stirred dirt, one was already poking up- now here we are , like 72 hours in and ALL 10 are up and going gangbusters. Never, I repeat Never have I seen 10 for 10 popping, up, and out of shells that fast. Simply amazing. Just a couple of teasers... I'll post the whole lot next update. I can definitely see the difference in using the silica blast. The stems on these plants are impressive. If I can find the balance I'm pretty sure I'll keep with it. I may take Feroce up on his offer- after I make an effort to find it myself. Well that's all the good stuff I have for y'all this time. By next update I will likely be putting the Boudicas into the flower room, along with whatever else happens to be ready. Keep rolling 'em green!
Reallate1 97 Report post Posted August 19, 2014 Well, as it stands, 14 out of 21 beans that started this grow are female. 8 (3 Boudica and 5 SPG x BB) are in their final 20l pots and under 2x 600w HPS. I have Dimmable ballasts so in a week we crank them up to 750w, and the following week they get cranked up to a full 1kw. The 6 Bluehammers will be transplanted today and will get off under the same conditions. An interesting side note, due to health issues, I am consulting for my pops who is going to give growing his own meds a shot. The reason I mention this is twofold: he placed his first order for seeds- ever- with Sanniesshop, and I have donated 5 of my SP x Madonna seedlings and 5 more seeds of it to him. That's the reason you will only see 5 of those seedlings in my thread. At any rate, some greenporn, then some news... Here we go again with the roots I haven't taken new pics of the SP x Madonna as I was pretty busy getting this stuff done- they will be in the next update. Promise. So. I have been a user of Fox Farms soil for years. I know this has been a hotly debated issue here before and I never really chimed in with my opinion because I believe that you should go with what works for you... Until now. A while back I noticed a change in the wording on the bags. I had also noticed that the consistency had started to vary, sometimes greatly, from bag to bag. I buy them 10 at a time so it was easy to see. I'm at a local grow shop picking up equipment for pops and having a conversation with an employee about the use of silica additives... I mention that I use FFOF. Did anyone (or everyone but me) know that FF was bought by Scott's/ miracle grow- owned by Monsanto Corp? WTF?! I hadn't paid much attention to the change on the bags wording, but it has a new California "known to cause cancer and other birth defects" blah blah blah warning on them. No more 100% natural and organic? Wow. I am now a Promix HP user. It's a blend of Peat moss, coco, perlite, and mychorrizae. That's it. Highly porous, with no added nutes, and Ph balanced. Things just got interesting... On a different front, the sickest of the Bluehammers is being culled; as well as the two lagging Boudica. I've been told that I tend to stick with things too long sometimes, and it's something I want to change. You know, the whole personal growth thing... Anyways, I am going to keep the sicko just long enough to do a Ph runoff test for my own curiosity, then it's das boot. Crazy, busy, transitional times here for sure- interestingly, the other plants show absolutely no ill effects from the silica, although I will be investing in a new Ph meter... I Shit canned my old one- Until next time...
Litlesticky 240 Report post Posted August 19, 2014 Hello real, I found some shots of a Vanniluna (got one getting close)that You grew a few years back, as I was researching her, and I ended up here. Reallate1 97 Report post Posted September 2, 2014 Well Damn... No cutting pics, only a couple SP x Madonna pics, and two weeks into 12/12 I don't see any update pics either. WTF?! Is Real *high*? Is he just slacking? Is it both? Hmmmmmmm.... Yeah- it's both. The cuttings were taken about 10 days ago. Yup, they have roots. The SP x Madonna are going nuts. This is the start of week 3 in flower, so I expect the stretch to be ending any time now. Starting to see some preflowers, particularly in one of the SPG x BB. Looks as though I have two phenos, a sativa and an indica- go figure... The Boudicas have stretched more than I expected, but they are all doing quite nicely. I will be rotating in some SP x Madonna shortly, with cuttings to follow in a few weeks. I have an eye on a couple that I might want as keepers- one (indica pheno) SPG x BB, and maybe two Bluehammers. I won't decide for sure until after the cure but they look promising. Some pics... Those are, obviously, the cuttings, the SP x Madonna, and the flower room on Aug. 18th. Here is now: So I'm really liking the soil change... No further problems with the Silica Blast either. Gotta run some errands, more updates to come.
Reallate1 97 Report post Posted September 20, 2014 Well, sad news to start off with... My two favorite SPG x BB phenos (BB dominant) have shown some nanners already. Since we're only four weeks into 12/12 I chopped one- the other only had one small cluster so I am hoping I can monitor it and sneak it through to maturity. Obviously it won't make mother stock as I was wanting. Two of the three Boudica are clearly sativa dominant phenos, the other looks to be a true 50/50 hybrid... It has my attention and could end up a keeper. Of course, the proof will be in the pudding. I have some nice Bluehammer phenos- there are two short, two intermediate, and one clear Jackhammer dominant. I have a bunch of pics taken but have been negligent in uploading them to the site... I'll work on that and share some nice budporn in the next update. SP x Madonna also deserves mention... She's due for transplant and a move to flower. That will be done along with cuttings, a bit later this week. I'll post up some shots of her next time as well. Real
