Hello everyone! I have always loved great food, from my kitchen and from restaurants and homes around the world. Being a stoner forum, I thought this to be an appropriate thread. Please, let this be the home for some of your favorite munchie porn. I know I will be drooling and somewhat tortured with jealousy I could not tastes some things, but I am intriqued :) Both regular and weed infused delights are welcome!

Pictured above may look like some simple cheese, but the flavor is very unique. The Face Rock Creamery is just 2 years old, yet both years they entered the American Cheese Society's Judging competition (like the Cannabis Cup for Cheese, but not judged in such a silly manner) they took away the top awards, the Vampire Slayer won it their first year, and became my instant favorite, although I must say the curds are a lot morec addictive. Soon, I plan on taking a family trip and stopping by the factory where this is made, along the southern Oregon coast. The curds have a squeekiness and tastes much better factory fresh. They also have a restaurant I intend eating and sampling from the menu. I will be sure to post some more pics and stay active with this topic in the future. Cheers!

I bet I would love that cheddar; to nibble on by itself, then in a fresh bun with a thick slice of cold baked ham and a tangy sour dill pickle. Mmm.

Then a cup of fresh dark roasted Columbian coffee. I get green beans from an importer in Canada straight from the Andes mountains and roast the bastards myself. Fuck the middle man.

You roast your own coffee? There's a green coffee bean distributor near me. Got any recommendations on a roaster?

I love Colombian (all products), but Tanzania Peaberry and Zimbabwe are also up there.

I wanted to see what I could do with what I had first, so I do mine in the oven, as I get good results. At first, you might think the uneven roasting is bad, but you get flavours from cinnamon roast, full city roast, and Vienna roast.

It's really smoky, but being a bachelor who owns his own old shack, I rigged up some ventilation that takes care of the smoke (well, mostly)

I didn't know if it would work in the oven, so I was prepared to buy this roaster

That roast job doesn't look bad. They seem relatively evenly colored.

What I've seen in the home roasting machines is they roast a small amount at a time, like 1/4 lb., and they imply the thing won't stand up to heavy use -- like don't think you're going to start roasting for all your friends and relatives. That was for an $80 machine. I think you have to really spend to roast more at a time.

i want slices of this in a burger.... :dribble: :dribble: :dribble:

That's next weekend :) Tonight it goes shredded on my fully loaded baked potatoes. I'm completely hooked on this cheese lol. I have been searching everywhere for some authentic and fresh mozzerella from buffalo milk, just like the way they make it in Italy, but is proving a difficult task in my area. A lot of stores won't carry it due to it's requirement to be eaten in days before it goes bad. Cheers!

Small hint:

If you can get some of the buffalo mozzarella then try it raw first. It looses quite a bit of its distinctive flavour if used to gratinate. I really love the taste... this subtle hint of "wild" animal. Not tangy like goat,.... more like a very very very mild sheep cheese. Not really comparable but I lack the words to describe it. Goes great with some Marzano tomatoes!

Iam a total cheese-head myself! :D I love the heavy ones like Swiss Gruyere, Old Cheddar, Stilton... Sadly most of the cheese sold in stores are either quite expensive or just "milk that you can cut". Gouda for example is a great cheese if he can age well.

Hmmm.... cheeeeese....!

Shitting dicknipples Saxo! That one reminds me of my childhood.... catching fish with me dad and after that in the homemade smoker they went! Thanks for stirring up this old memory. Havent thought about that since ages!!!

Sadly I dont have pics from tonights dinner.

Four weeks ago I changed my diet to something called Paleo (Stone Age Diet). Its not a weightloss diet but a complete change of your eating habbits. No grains, no legumes, no sugar, nothing processed, no dairy products.

What you eat is basically loads of vegetables, nuts, fruit, fish, meat and eggs. No vegetable oils but Olive, Avocado and Coconut, lard is also ok. Thats the basic Paleo. If you want to loose weight you cut out fruits, nuts, potatoes and sweet potatoes. If you wanna gain weight u eat those alot. If you wanna keep your weight you eat those in moderation. If you do alot of sports or do bodybuilding you increase the protein and adjust the potatoes and sweet potatoes as you need em.

First week was terrible! I mosty had carrots and eggs or tuna or potatoes with steak and kraut. I almost stopped there... In week two I tried out more recipes and since week three I love it. I bought a fat fridge and freezer combo and filled it up with tons of vegetables and eggs, some meat and loads of frozen fish.

Now Iam at the end of week four and really enjoy the hell out of this. I lost a few pounds, have much more energy, sleep and just feel better. I love every meal and have this strange thing going on that I have almost no craving for food or snacks until I sit before me meal. Than start pig in shite and stuff me face. I honestly wake up in the morning and really look forward to breakfast. Even if its only 3 carrots, a pear, can´o´tuna and a boiled egg. :)

Tonight was a bit different. Was at a friends house (me best mate here), and we planned to cook something together. I explained to her my situation and it was no problem: "I can cook some pasta for me in an extra pot" she said.

We ended up with a house full of surprise guests and a full blown paleo dinner..... and everyone enjoyed it! The fun thing was that we used a sweet potatoe (a whooping 800g the thing was) for the very first time. We both were stoned to bone on Anesthesia and had no idea what to do with it. We also had roughly a pound of ground beef/pork from an organic butcher.... soooo heres what we did:

-one fat sweet potatoe

-one normal sized eggplant

-about 200-300g tomatoes

-one Chillie

-Onion

-Garlic

We took a huge pan with a good ammount of olive oil and semi-fried the sweet potatoe to semi chips/fries. The eggplant was roasted. The onion, garlic and chillie was sauteed and put aside. The tomatoe was cut up in slices.

We took a gratine form for the oven and stacked the sweet potatoe, egglant and tomatoe. Seaoning was salt, pepper, basil and paprika powder. After that we just poured the oil with garlic, onion and chillie over it. The form went into a preheated oven (160°C) and left there until it looked a bit crisp on top.

And we made meatballs...

-400g ground beef´n´pork

-one egg

-onion, garlic, chillie

Simple as that: Chop up onion, garlic and chillie. Add salt, pepper, basil, oregano, rosemary. Mix everything together with wet (and washed ^^) hands. Form balls or patties to your liking and fry em in olive oil or lard.

In the end everybody was really happy! It went down a storm. We smoked quite alot of weed that night so that might have helped :) STill I feel pretty chuffed to make up a recipe together with me mate in no time and completely hammered by Whazzups girl.

Sorry if this sounded a bit like advertising :D It was just such a nice and unexpected evening and Iam still so stoned that I really needed to ramble about :)

Hope this finds you all in good health and high spirits! See ya!

EDIT: I will surely try sweet potatoes again! You can even eat them raw. They are much faster done than regular potatoes. Also I will drop the eggplant and exchange it with a few sauteed mushrooms and some broccoli (THE MOST underrated veg of all time). I think this will make the recipe much better!

The best way to loose a couple of stone:

Either significantly lower the carb intake or at least focus on carbs with a low glycemic index and load. If you cant stand the carb withdrawel (the "Carb Flu" - it lasted one week in my case) then the second choice is a good way to start. Just search for a glycemic index list in your language on the net. You can also look up "paleo diet" in youtube, there are some decent guides out there.

Id still recommend to get rid of all grains in the diet - wholegrain, too! I can directly link my bodyweight to my consumption of rice, bread and pasta. If I cut those out and substitute them with fruit and veg then the pounds will vanish.

But the most important thing is: Never do a "Diet" to loose weight. Change your complete way of eating. If you say "iam ON the XYZ diet now" implies that you will get OFF it someday and ye goode olde yoyo effect will happen. So the changes in your everyday diet must be easy to follow them on a daily basis until you loose all cravings for the old shit youve been used to eat.

I wish you much luck mate! :)
