hi Joker, I also had no success the first time i used sannies sponge pots, i figured out i was over watering them and sealing them up in a sandwhich bag for humidity...well i drowned them. Popped more a couple days later, a few in more sponge pots, some in straight solo cups with zero soak, and some in a glass of water. All seeds popped.
this may help you it was my experience and this just happend a few months ago, im growing now for just under 10 years but sometimes a trip back to the basics is needed for me.
hope your friend has better luck...Just please do not Give up, the plants want to live and need you =)
