Gardener

A Continuous Evolutionary Grow

Recommended Posts

Seems like there used to be info going around in the old days regarding inducing stress to the plants to stimulate them, like in the magazines and books. I think there is total science behind that. I've had so many plants outside that I thought I'd killed or nature did, that came back and stronger than expected. They seem to produce more of everything when it happens.

Looking good Gardener!

Very nice pics, so very clear, like sitting in front of me. Looks like one might bleed purple?

I saw the same thing and wasn't sure if it was an illusion or not.  But you see it too.

I have read (from other defoliators) that cotton also responds to defoliation.

If it is a science, then i am a scientist.  But i don't do controlled experiments in defoliation.  I just record my observations to share with others.

Yep, very cool! You will have to watch for when you cut it next. I forgot to, next time I cut the Dragons blood I will see if I can get a purple bleeder shot.

My cats will not touch a trichome, but they will take a clone right down to stalk. Little buggers, one time I had ten CBD clones, Mr Mittens took em all down to stalk.

Today is day 35 since the two Strawberry Kush x Mystery plants popped their heads above ground.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_1c2a.thumb.jpg.b8a04f0476c607dba3fe21502c151201.jpg

7 days ago I defoliated them in order to encourage secondary bud growth.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_1c2b.thumb.jpg.64214f6aefac2d4f2a237e1083d4cbfd.jpg

Tonight they will go into the flowering tent.  There they will stay, until they show sex.  I grown several mystery plants so far.  None have been female.  (Thank goodness for feminized seeds.) I sure hope that at least one of these are female.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_1c2e.thumb.jpg.960bcf4669d5dc8329d958bef9f9308e.jpg

Two plants.  One of them is much better endowed with secondary buds than the other.  Better buds on this one.  If only one were female, and i got to choose which one was which, i would want this to be the female.

Scrawny buds on this one.  Still, much better than the way they looked a week ago.  But not as good as the other plant.

Since defoliating the plants last week, i have continued trimming away leaves as they mature.  Everything that is growing on the plant now is destined to be a flower.  Mature fan leaves are thanked for their service, and retired to the compost bin.

I hope they don't stretch much.  I don't know if stretching during flowering can be mitigated through defoliation.  We will find out soon.

Master Kush.  Day 51 of veg.  9 days ago she was defoliated in order to stimulate her budding sites to grow before flowering.  It's interesting to watch the changes in the branches after defoliation.  The buds are tiny at first.  But as they grow, the branch fattens up in order to support all of the growth.

Tomorrow she begins sleeping on a 12/12 schedule. I look forward to seeing her flowers.

Lemon OG Haze auto.  Yesterday was her 23rd day.

There is something unusual about this plant.   You can see it in these photos.  This plant has a different phyllotaxy.

Phyllotaxy refers to the arrangement of the leaves on the stem.  Most cannabis plants have opposite phyllotaxy along the main stem.  This means that the leaves grow in pairs on opposite sides of the stem.  Look closely and you can see that this is not the case.

This plant is exhibiting something more like an alternate phyllotaxy.  In an alternate phyllotaxy, each leaf originates at a unique point along the stem or branch.

There is also something called a whorled phyllotaxy, where several leaves arrive from the same point on the stem.  I am not yet sure if that's what this is.  There are places where two leaves originate from the same side of the stem, with another close on the opposite side.

It could be extra bushy.

Super Lemon Haze was the most lemony thing I've ever grown, stable, too, great smoke.   I've grown Sannie's Jack 4-5 times, never found much lemon, more spicy citrusy maybe, but they're all good.

Nirvana's Lemon OG Haze has a very lemony diesel smell and flavor.  My first grow had two of these plants, two years ago.  Lemon OG Haze was the biggest yielder out of the three strains that i planted.   It produced some very sticky smelly flowers.  Easy to grow.
