Just 20 miles inland they have over a foot of ice encrusted snow with trees and power lines down all over. It was expected to hit us as well but stopped just short thankfully. We did get a wicked east wind a couple nights ago that tore apart a 20 year old Cypress tree in the back yard. Six, Fifteen to twenty foot long branches snapped off at their base and laid tangled in and around the tree the next morning. She had lost a few branches over the years but this took nearly half her lower branches and I'll have to cut it down when the weather improves. All is well in the grow room and the Hammer Head's are really stinking the place up. They are coming up on 9 weeks in 12's and their aroma grows more intense everyday. The Hammer Head x Silverfields is even more fragrant but hers is a sweeter, more lavender based aroma compared to the sharp citrusy glue smell of the HH's. The Amnesia Haze x Black Domina girl is 37 days in 12's now. She has nice form and is starting to fill in her many buds. The NYCD x Lemon Thai clone is 32 days in and about done stretching finally. Now she starts to build some colas. I hit a few buds on a couple lower branches with some Red IPA ( Phuuu's IPA x Nepalma CBD) pollen the other day and it looks to have taken. I have been sampling the NYCD x LT as it cures and really like it. Very uplifting but also a good body influence and a bit of mind numbing at higher doses. Last but not least in the flower room is the Critical Mass x (G13 x hasplant) x Citral girl who is 13 days in and is stretching into a nice looking lady. Interested to see how much she stretches in the coming week or two. I have 2 Phuuu's IPA fems going in the veg area. These are from the most recent IPA crop and I'm curious to see how they turn out. The Mom I chose to make seeds with was exceptional so hoping some of that carries through. In another week or so they will be ready to take some cuts from, then they will get up-potted and put to flower. On to the pics... I have seen a wide variety from IPA's, even in the fems and try to figure out what trait came from which part of the 3 way cross that makes up IPA's. Thanks oldschoolsg, nice to have some big colas around again. I'm impatiently waiting for the HH's to finish up. Last time I grew them I was still able to have CO2 oil made and it made some incredible oil. Sadly that is no longer an option thanks to the legal cannabis law here. BeachBud 7,927 Report post Posted February 26, 2021 Feeling a bit under the weather today but that's OK, it's because I got my first covid shot yesterday. Woke up with a nasty headache and general malaise this morning. Some Tylenol and couple vapes have me feeling better now. My better half got her shot this morning so we are feeling fortunate. I am over 65 and though she is younger than that she works as a preschool teacher so they gave her one too. Three more weeks until the booster then we will be good to go....hopefully. All is well in the grow rooms. I really enjoy going into the flower room these days, the smell is incredible and keeps building as the days go by. That wonderful aroma comes from the Hammer Heads and their cousin Hammer head x Silverfields who are 10 weeks in 12's now. An intense citrusy/glue/fuel smell hits me in the face when I walk in, wish I could attach a sample...lol. Looks like the Hammer Heads will go another week, maybe 10 days. Here's a peek... HH #2 HH #3 HH x Silverfields The Amnesia Haze x Black Domina girl has filled in nicely at the 7 week mark. She has big, hairy buds that keep getting fatter. The NYCD x Lemon Thai clone is 43 days in 12's now and she is building some nice buds. That brings us to the Critical Mass x (G13 x hasplant) x Citral girl who is 24 days in and remains surprisingly (at least to me) short and bushy. I expected a 2-3 times stretch at least but she is barely 1.5 times now. Maybe the next week will bring more vertical growth, we shall see. I took 2 cuts from each of the Phuuu's IPA fems I have vegging today. I'll let them veg a few more days and then those 2 will go to 12's. When the cuts get big enough I'll take a couple more cuts from them so you'll be seeing a lot of IPA's around here for awhile. That's about all for now. Time to find a cup of coffee and another vape. BeachBud 7,927 Report post Posted March 7, 2021 Thanks for the info @Sunnyvale After 2 days of snipping the Hammerhead's and their cousin Hammerhead x Silverfields are now in the ice box until this evening. Then it will come out to dry and be ready for jars in about 36 hours. For those unfamiliar with the dry ice method you can read about it's benefits here. The 2 Hammerhead girls turned out very different from one another. The #2 was considerably larger with dense buds that reeked of citrusy glue. The #3 had more foxtailing and her buds are not as dense. She has a semi sweet smell with a hint of strawberry mixed with hash. I'm guessing the #3 is what NAW was after with these version 3's. The Hammerhead x Silverfields shows more Silverfields than HH. Her buds are long and conical and fairly dense. She has an interesting aroma that switches between blueberry and grape mixed with glue. It is not a sweet smell like HH #3, it is more pungent and volatile. Here's some pics taken 2 days ago just before chopping HH #3. I chopped the other two yesterday. Flower room 3-5-21 Hammerhead x Silverfields @ 11 weeks HH #2 @ 11 weeks HH #3 @ 11 weeks With the HH's out of the way there is suddenly much more space in the flower room. Of those left the Amnesia Haze x Black Domina is the elder gal at 8 weeks in 12's followed by the NYCD x LT clone at 52 days and the Critical Mass x (G13 x hasplant) x Citral is at 33 days. The 2 Phuuu's IPA fems are 5 days in and showing a good stretch already. Amnesia Haze x Black Domina @ 8 weeks NYCD x LT @ 52 days Critical Mass x (G13 x hasplant) x Citral @ 33 days After 9 days in the bubble cloner the cuts are ready to pot but I have too much going on today so I'll get to them tomorrow. Kinda curious to see how these new IPA fems perform. They are showing more early stretch than normal and their fan leaves are smaller than the usual IPA. That's all for now. All this sunshine is bringing too many people around here, it looked like summer last weekend, people every freaking where. The Hammerhead and Hammerhead x Silverfields girls are all dried and in jars. Very nice haul from them which is good cause I really like both of them. The NYCD x LT that was chopped awhile back is almost ready to come out of the jars. I had a difficult time describing the smell of her, it was something new to me and though it seemed familiar I could not put my finger on the scent. A couple weeks ago I cooked a chuck roast in the pressure cooker and after removing the lid when it was done it hit me, it smelled just like the NYCD x LT. I suppose the technical term would be savory but it is the first weed I've ever had that smells like a cooked chuck roast. The clone from her is coming along nicely at the 9 week mark. The two Phuuu's IPA fems are 16 days in 12's and still stretching. Their lower branches are not stretching as much as usual for IPA's. This is a new batch of seeds so it's gonna be interesting to see what different phenos show. The 2 cuts each I took from them are now potted and showing new growth. The Critical Mass x (G13 x hasplant) x Citral girl looks like she has so many names she did not know what to be. She is a nice little bush with lots of nice little buds that have a sweet hashy smell. She is 6 weeks in now so lets see how she bulks up in the coming weeks. That leaves the Amnesia Haze x Black Domina lady and she is looking very nice as she approaches the ten week mark. Those big fat buds don't give off much smell. A finger rub gives a sweet smell of coffee and lavender with a little hash thrown in. I'm gonna take a sample bud from her at ten weeks and see how she is doing. Enough chit chat, on to the pics... Phuuu's IPA fems @ 16 days Critical Mass x (G13 x hasplant) x Citral @ 43 days NYCD x LT @ 62 days Amnesia Haze x Black Domina @ 67 days I get my second covid vaccine tomorrow and the Mrs. gets hers the next day so we should be good to go. I hope a shot finds it's way to your arm if you are still waiting, sure will be nice to get this thing behind us. In other good news, after a year of being out of stock I saw sunshine Mix #4 back on the shelf so no more 100 mile round trips to find some. Anyone hear from Santero yet? It is interesting how different states have different strategies. A lot of people are gonna be busy for awhile after this is over going over data and seeing who did what better. It seems to me a coherent national strategy would have been far more efficient and equitable than 50 different approaches we have now. The 4 Phuuu's IPA cuts got up-potted to #2's the other day and I cranked up both of the larger LED fixtures. After this run it will be time for maintenance on those lights. Gotta open them up and blow them out and wipe down all the fan blades. Amazing how much crude builds up in the darn things. All is good in the flower room. I have a couple of chops coming right up. The Amnesia Haze x Black Domina is 11 weeks in and looking like she is ready. I am really impressed with her, big ups to Oaseeds for producing this chunky girl. Her buds are like clubs and they are really dense. Even her low inner buds are huge, no popcorn on this girl. I did a sample bud at 10 weeks and it was probably ready then but the extra week works out better for me. She has a very nice up high that is balanced by a good body buzz. Can't wait to try more of this one. Also nearing the end is the NYCD x LT clone. She is 10 weeks in and has formed an impressive main cola. Gonna give her 1 more week mostly because I love looking at her. That brings us to the Critical Mass x (G13 x hasplant) x Citral, she is 52 days in and building some nice (though rather smallish in comparison) buds. This girl didn't turn out anything like what I envisioned it would but she has a nice sweet hashy aroma and nice form. That leaves the 2 Phuuu's IPA fems who are 25 days in now and are about done stretching at about 36" tall. This is the short pheno of IPA and it comes through about 25% of the time in my previous batch of seeds. Getting 2 short ones right out of the gate with the new seeds makes me wonder it they will be more prevalent in these. We shall see. The only drawback to the smaller pheno is yield so I just have to grow more of them. OK, on to the pics, better get your drool towel ready for the Amnesia Haze x Black Domina. Flower room. Phuuu's IPA fems Critical Mass x (G13 x hasplant) x Citral NYCD x Lemon Thai clone Amnesia Haze x Black Domina I was dissapointed to find that none of the Hammerhead buds I hit with 2 year old Huck Kush pollen produced any seeds.
