LED Variety by Tread

Recommended Posts

I used to trim much more than I have been lately and I think I'm gonna try it more. I wanted to be safe while learning indoors again. But I'm finding more reasons to do thoughtful trimming a little more on the aggressive side, again. I had it wired pretty good outside before.

Hi tread I am a firm beliver in defoliation how far in to flowering stage do you trim

I only trim up to the first 3weeks after flipping them to 12/12

Same here. After 3 weeks I don’t touch them at all. I know some guys do another defoliation around week 6 but since I hit em at day 1 and week 3 that’s enough for me.

Well I just finished 3 weeks of flower, so I'm going to lay off too. Not sure where the 1" leaf stem rules comes from for LEDs, though? I am using 50W COBs. But, i've also got lots of space, lots of fans, and the airflow is great (relative to some of my early grows).

The 1 inch leaf rule is so that you leave enough leaf on the plant to power it through to the end and not cripple it. It’s not LED specific just how I was taught.

After week 3 I will pluck the occasional light blocker but if I can tuck a leaf I will.

Blackjack Day 20 Bloom

79.8F

6.1 pH

Defoliated a few days sooner than I intended. Leaf crowding was just getting ridiculous and humidity was starting to increase. After a pretty good plucking I can see that the structure of these plants is what I wanted. Hopefully now I’ll only have to do minor maintenance going forward.

Getting warm outside so my temps have gone up a little. Afte 4 weeks I’m very happy with the development of these ladies so far. Little buds appear as if they will be dense with some impressive early trichome production. Has a strong fruity odor so far and I can hardly see the branches in spots. So far so good.

This heat wave has made controlling the temps a little difficult the last weekor so. Plants are showing some slight heat stress but still looking good. Glad I chose to add Rhino Skin to the nute mix and is seeming to pay off. Buds are forming all the way down the stems and with at least 3 weeks left I should be looking at a decent yield. Looks like I’ll finally have a successful BJ grow after a few failures.

Acapulco Gold Veg

This is about a week after topping and removing some fans. These plants are in a 5X5 under my black dog 800. Branches look strong and a couple look like they want to bush out. I may let these go for a while before I switch just to see how much branching I can get.

Im really happy with the bud development of this strain. All of the main tops have dense buds and I cannot see the stems. They are just beginning to fatten up and the trich production is impressive. Top shooter really seems to be doing the job. The smell inside the tent has gotten really fruity so I can only imagine what the cured taste will be like. If it smokes like it has grown this will be a staple in my rotation for a long time.

Here at the beginning of the 8th week these ladies are still fattening up and sprouting fresh pistols. The colas are completely encrusted with trichs. What’s actually surprising is that even with the size and density of the colas none of the branches has required any kind of support. All of these top buds are about 7-10” long. I’m going to start putting some of these buds under the scope tonight so I’m not surprised by a sudden ripening. My CLW panels are really doing the job right now.

I’m very surprised how this turned out considering my past blackjack failures and this being my first hydro grow in 4 years.

Agreed. Some big buds in there.

I’ve been chasing that elusive 1gr/watt goal and it looks like I’m close here. Never expected the buds to be this long.
