Time to run this marathon

Recommended Posts

Ok. So plant 1 = 28.5

plant 2 = 34.1 ; plant 3 = 41.7

total 104.3 g’s = 3.725 z’s

was a little surprised the buds dried up more and felt comfortable jarring them w/55% rh boveda packs. Trimmed off excess stems before weighing and didn’t count some small amounts that were set aside.

Time to switch to shorter brown bags for the two warrior kush to dry a bit better.

One Cap’n Shiva’s Crunch Berries is ready to hang and one more has awhile before done. That’s the one I pollinated a couple Branch flowers of.

The male’s tip parts will be cut off and already fed him with Alaska grow a couple days ago.  He’ll go back on 24 hrs to reveg. Should be able to get more pollen off him to save. I’ll be collecting last bit today as I let it dry out a couple days,

his sister will be fed and hopefully she will bulk up more as time passes .

Took 11 yrs and 7 months to pull this off wow ?

The Marathon continues and this thread is dedicated to the late Nipsey Hussle !

So, cut down the Cap’n Shiva’s Crunch Berries the wild spider child. All my fault btw ha.

Cut the-top off the boy. And now he’s just getting the shop light 24hrs no led for his reveg yet. He has a hollow stem.

Moved the pollen for collection tomorrow. Sandwich bag has a little in it.

His Sister hasn't increased much  yet. But is healthy.

Last Cap’n Shiva’s Crunch Berries is doing ok and will get fed tomorrow at lights on approx. we’ll call her BB for buds and beans

1st 7 same spider plant.

I had hollow stems one time, do you know what causes that?

The end answer is a lack of carbon but the reasons for that cause can be many with some debate.  Most often I believe this happens from a bit too high temperatures and potentially a lack of rest of the plant combined with the age of the plant.  The resting part I have seen heavily debated and in my experience I have no affirmed opinion.  I do believe it is good for a plant to rest but I have seen virtually no difference in plants with a short vegetative stage before flowering once they are mature to flower.

  • With that said, I have personally seen plants grown with ideal environments and ideal lighting and nutrition at the same time and have had hollow and others have regular stems.  I have not seen any quality difference.

My personal view is that it can be a variety or all of the following; stress, nutritional aspects, too weak lighting, to the removal of too many leaves at critical stages of plant development when it is bulding with carbon (stems and such) it can create this aspect.   This tends to be more with hydroponic plants as they can absorb faster than soil styled medias.

Also, when plants are stressed and need carbon for elsewhere, it can use the pith, regular stems, as a source.  Sort of like a fat in our bodies but for use in building materials rather than energy production like us.

With detailed records of environment, nutrition, ph, in and outs as applicable it may be possible to determine better management practices.

  • overall in this regard for the average grower.  Is not a big deal if the plant is healthy and happy otherwise.

i've always thought it was genetics based on the many threads and growers who have noted it. no doubt other factors can play a role.  him and his sister were not stressed, and was moved into the 600 hps flower space a fair bit away from the light for them to get used to it. temps were good and nice an comfy in 12/12,  in veg could have been cooler imho but none of the other strains showed any heat stress at all and grew just fine. i can't say more cause idk

i've never grown a pole type plant and i attempted to fim both and it didn't seem to matter. i used to fim a lot before retirement and all went as expected in response to it. no matter what the strain was. at that time there were quite a few to say the least.  but none were pole type growers out of 17-22 different strains back then but that's just on the genetics mainly imho. not related to hollow stems.  i nevr saw anything in the debate that made me pay extra attention to that growth style.

thx. @Hempyfan

Almost forgot to mention. beans are baking in the pollinated cap'n shiva's crunch berries hit flowers on 2 lower branches. i'll let them stay while the rest gets harvested. i'm going to try to take this lady longer then before she'll let me know what to do. i added two more stakes to prop her up well and not have to be concerned later. will collect the pollen that's been drying a few days tomorrow.

i',m thinking of dropping some seriously old bag seed in a shot glass too. that way if i need t shut down  no biggy. hide a couple clones in water bottle if need be. or be ready to hide a couple small rooted clones. we'll see.  easy to take the vert light down. more effort to take down the rigged up 250 mh. always good to save boxes to put shit in and tape up. just enough packin tape om hand to take care of that if need be.

@Cap’n Shiva’s Crunch Berries So, the spider plant hit 27g btw I weigh it all no separation of popcorn etc.

I was surprised at the state of the buds when checked and stem snap close. So, went into action quickly to jar and add one boveda pack.

used pickle jar cause the quart jar wouldn’t hold all of it and that’s the last quart jar unless I find another.

Took a little and put in the quart jar just to puff on casually.

Flash and no flash.

1st test oct.1/2 for 30 day cure, then  60 day and @90 days.

If you have an adjustable hygrometer, you can just calibrate it with the Boveda pack made for that purpose, and adjust your jar moisture, as needed. If it's too dry, toss a freshly picked leaf into the jar and check in another 6 hours. If it's still not moist enough, toss in another.

i don't have any measuring devices. as i can't find anything accurate for temps and humidity for the plants let alone a hygrometer for jars.

@gardenartus i opened two jars to check smell and things were getting better. seems i need to order some more packs as i only have two left. plus they are supposed to last like a month. if that works out and it's good at a month. i can just keep the jars sealed in the basement with no boveda after the intial 30 day cure. i plan to buy a couple jars of sauce at an italian deli because they use canning jars. or grab a couple new ones at wally world. i need their potato salad really bad lol.

i spread some DE on top of the unknown pole planmt as i saw tiny ass nats crawling the soil surface and flying if disturbed. i killed a few by hand. they are not fungus gnats though so glad about that. i did the same to the last CSC B's though it was no evidence of them being their. won't hurt for prevent defense. i also mixed up a batch of insecticide made with the fels nattha soap. mainly because ants are being a nuisance. i can't find the trail where they come from  smdh. then they just disappear like they are gone and then come back. at least that's what's been happening lately. they don't like the spray and get deaded. i also spray on the oven to ward off mice as well. they don't like the smell.

ants were out and i dumped out most of the mix cause it was too thick. so, it would squirt instead of spray as it should. added water to it and now sprays.  put the rest in a glass jar to keep in the fridge. i did add a little dawn and water before putting the soap mix in the sprayer. wetting agent that i didn't think i needed since soap is the only ingredient but wouldn't hurt .

warrior tonics are crisping up well now and if we can get moderate humidity in the area i'll be ready to jar them up. keeping the twin fans on low speed seems to work better than the higher speed.  made up my mind to get an air conditioner so that will zap the drying and humidity problem for good.  might as well sense buying the mower doesn't seem to be in sight. i guess best sale time for them will be november/december. yes, the reviews are a pain. as long as i can get it installed properly i'll be happy. and i won't have yo hear women complain about the heat.  i can say take your but upstairs and chill out lol.

oh, yeah. i used a couple of the vials for seeds. one i filed up totally full and it still snaped shut. can someone count the rest to make sure they didn't short me on the 1,000 vials ? lol so used 5 vias and 1 of those are white/greenies that will get tossed right now into a canister for the lazy lady who has a couple flowering females on her terrace porch. one warrior tonic and one from a lady in dc. and a couple smaller ones. at least should get all females plants imho. i guess she';; get a 30% germ rate enough to make sure she buys some seed so she can make her own seed later. if not then it's on her and she'll kick herself if that warrior tonic works for her 1/2 as ,much as it does for me. she has sickle cell anemia so it's a very weird fucked up pain.

Air conditioning helps a ton, I have a little portable unit I use in the dry room. I was lucky and did a barter with infused honey ha! I also have a humidifier and a dehumidifier. All help greatly depending on the need.

The boveda packs don't change the smell like some things they use, orange peel, bread. I have done as Misterdirt said and threw in a fan leaf or two and that works too, as long as you didn't get it too dry. I actually recharged some of those packs, put a wet paper towel in a plastic baggie with a boveda pack, it moistened back up, I had to rewet the paper towel a few times, but it worked.

you dont need to be that careful recharging boveda packs. i recharge my boveda packs all the time for my cigar humidors.  just soak them in tupperware of distilled water for a couple days till they are puffed back up to where you want them  then lay out on a paper towel to dry the outside.  i have some packs that are over 5 years old.

So, i saw these videos on the topic. i will try with the ones that are in jars now. i could use them for the last couple plants if i can get them dry enough to start to cure them. ran into an issue of resorption of humidity with the 2 warrior tonics that fans were blowing on now stop. i sad fuck it and closed the bags up and sat them aside. they might be headed for the basement imho. i did look at dehumidifier actually.  and the recommended size.  yet., so far they have funky ass reviews as most things now days. smdh

i also saw diy videos of making stuff to act like damp rid. i would  put it in a cracked footlocker to try that way.

Last two plants. The lightly impregnated Cap’n Shiva’s Crunch Berries I think will do well with the pole type male. Brother to the female shown.  He’s doing fine under the shop light and one 9watt led .

The lions were actually a video they was cool but just snapped the picture.  I’ve never seen such a thing. Nobody seems to know the original source of them  though.

Here’s the ? Male possible Rhino Blood via @Mr Goodfellow

It’s already started generating shoots/leaves. Yeah, yup, sho nuff ! removed two light blocking fans so the foliage hiding behind can get proper light. About to put him on a 20/19 - 4/5 light cycle so he can rest some and grow better. He’s under a shop light with one 9w led as side lighting. I’ll add another later today. Weathers getting cooler now. My heater kicked on frfr. Just shut the furnace off.

He’s going to get Alaska Grow and occasional Epsom salt once a month if needed.

Should get more pollen this time from him with the xtra branches.

Hopefully if this weather keeps up it will be jar time for the Warrior Tonic that I really need.

What ever’s grown next strain wise, it will include the WT MOs def.

So, checked the brown bags and they were crispy  critters  galore !

just put out the micro bud- hairy joint after the second white ash picture.

Used safe plastic for the 2nd container of the second plant.

37.1 and 44.1 = 81.2 g’s total 2.84 oz’s for both warrior tonics.  Grown better they will yield more and not be so hairy imho. Still quite satisfied MOs def.

Small glass jar = no boveda  but that shouldn’t be an issue with the change in weather. They will cure in the basement except the glass jar which i’ll Need to burp manually .

So, male is 17.5” approx. just fed Alaska grow .

Cap’n  Shivas Crunch Berries and the pole unknown are now  solely under 250 mph to finish.  save the 600 life span.  Oscillating fan only pointed at space between light and plants.  Other fan turned off and will clean that up the best I can. I do need to buy a new one to have at the ready just in case. Cheap cost but works well for vertical grow.
