If you are growing indoors, have a plan to deal with that.
Misterdirt 11,145 Report post Posted June 11, 2020 Mine were tall, at first, but then they didn't stretch as much as other plants, so they turned out to be about average size.
Gardener 2,116 Report post Posted June 14, 2020 Harvest! Yesterday i took down two plants in 1-gallon containers. The first plant is Short Rider, an auto flower. I probably let it go too long. 95 days. It was ready after 84. I haven't checked the trichomes under a scope. I probably should. The second plant is a cross between Harlequin and 'Strawberry Backcross,' after 57 days flowering. I would have let it go longer, but i need the space in my tent for new flowers.
Gardener 2,116 Report post Posted June 24, 2020 A look inside my tent. There are seven 3 gallon pots. In the back corner from the first photo there are also three 1-gallon pots. Each large pot has three or four plants. By batching plants together, a dense canopy can be created. This is the best utilization of both available light and root space that I have been able to manage so far. Weekly harvests to resume shortly.
Gardener 2,116 Report post Posted June 29, 2020 Northern Lights regular was selling cheap for five seeds. I splurged. Out of the five, three sprouted. Out of the three, one of them didn't belong. It had a tall, spindly nature and leaves that looked sativa. There was a male and a female among the other two. The strange plant was also male. So i cut it down. I took clones from the female. Cut back the male. By the end of the week this second male should be gone. Today is the 9th day of flowering.
Gardener 2,116 Report post Posted July 7, 2020 Harvest! This past Saturday I took down four plants in a pot. The strains were Ice, Blackjack, Aurora Indica, and Tangie. 56 days flowering. Feminized seed is another easy way to combine plants in a pot. Start three or four seeds in a 1 gallon pot. Transplant to a 3 gallon container as they reach maturity. Out of these four varieties, Ice and Aurora Indica work the best for my issues. Blackjack and Tangie were interesting. But i wouldn't consider them again. Now that i have some favorites that work for me, I will begin transitioning to mostly growing those. But before I can go that route, I need to finish bunches of plants.
Gardener 2,116 Report post Posted July 11, 2020 Last year i made so many crosses that it turned this into a summer of exploring my own seed stash. Mad Chem x Critical is at 28 days. These buds started to become thick after 3 weeks. I can't wait to try it.
Gardener 2,116 Report post Posted July 15, 2020 Harvest! Blueberry Quintessa, day 64. Four plants. One particular low-yielding pheno. They all have seeds. But selective breeding starts here. Only the seeds from the best looking plants and buds will be saved. Eager to report back once these dry.

This is fun. The mites are getting out of hand. I have resigned myself to the notion that nothing can be done until i shut this operation down. I'm trying to grow enough weed to make that possible. I'm planning to shut everything down by November. Do a thorough cleaning. Don't have any plants so the mites all die off. Until then, my leaves will continue to look like crap on finished plants. It may be affecting the size of my harvests. Who knows? But the buds still come out looking and smelling good.
Gardener 2,116 Report post Posted July 27, 2020 I planted seeds as summer approached. Heading into fall I am taking clones. There were so many untried crosses waiting to be hatched. A few were completely uninteresting. Fewer still are keepers. The clones on this plant cart are either Northern Lights, in the plastic pots, or Critical, in the grow bags. The seedlings (front left) are the last batch I intend to plant for a while. The females are destined to become mother plants. 17 days old today. They are an Afghan CBD bx. ACBD bx1. (Afghan CBD x Strawberry Kush bx x Afghan CBD.) I love both parents, so this should be good. And a peak inside the clone factory. I haven't yet tasted any of these strains. 9 clones of Ice x (Strawberry Kush bx) in the open tray. Under the dome are cuttings of Green Manalishi bx from @wisecalyx and cuttings of Master Kush x ACBD. I also bought some clear-plastic cloning trays. Fill these with coir and they seem to work better than sticking clones into rapid rooters. I can also manage them better this way. Easier to label and to organize.
mushaboom 50 Report post Posted July 28, 2020 once i had a mite issue and was able to clear it up without having to shut everything down. a hot shot no pest strip in my tent killed every bug within a week or two. you have to be careful using them; they aren't really safe to use inside a living space like a bedroom. and it would probably be good to buy one of those insecticides that hook up to a garden hose and spray around the outside perimeter of your house. if you haven't already looked into those options try it. the pest strip is like 5-10 dollars, easy to use, and the insecticide will probably be 5-15 dollars and also easy to use. i think it would change everything for you. those mites are affecting everything including your yield. i bet your yield would double. most likely you have mites outside your house; i think you should not take your plants outside anymore.

Good advice. I will look into the pest strips. Is there a chance that this stuff would contaminate bud?
Gardener 2,116 Report post Posted August 1, 2020 Harvest! Afghan CBD x Strawberry Kush bx. I love this cross so much. 54 days flowering. Some of the buds were finished. Others could have used a bit longer. But I couldn't wait.
Gardener 2,116 Report post Posted August 6, 2020 Harvest! Mad Chem x Critical. 55 days flowering. Hard nuggets.
Gardener 2,116 Report post Posted August 17, 2020 Harvest! Five days back. Critical, after 55 days of flowering. This plant started as a filler plant when i grew out Blueberry Quintessa. I had ten seeds. I needed two more to fill out a third 1-gallon pot. It was a slow-grower, too, until about the fifth or sixth week, when it just took off. At some point, I got tired of always searching for female plants and grew to appreciate the wisdom of keeping mother plants. This was the first mother plant of the summer. I took about a dozen clones before letting it flower. I could have kept it going. But by this point I was looking at every female as a potential mother plant, preferring favorite strains over this one. Nothing wrong with Critical. It's a good strain. I like it. But it is not one of my faves. (But i like the head high.) However, i have a number of crosses from a Critical father. This is a good strain for pollen chucking. I have been using Mad Chem x Critical the past couple of weeks. That stuff is pretty damned good.
Misterdirt 11,145 Report post Posted August 18, 2020 Why are the leaves so "crispy" looking? Is that some pest that I'm too lazy to go back in the thread and read about?

Or thrips. I also have a plan. A friend of a friend needs work, and she can be trusted not to cause trouble. I can't do the work necessary to clean out the grow room. But I am happy to hire this person. Hopefully i can bring it under control with her help.
Gardener 2,116 Report post Posted August 21, 2020 Harvest! Strawberry Kush bx1, four days ago, at 56 days. The F2 generation. This 'strain' is the father of ACBD x SK bx. And that cross is one of my favorites. Heavy yielder. A hybrid with a pleasant sativa head-high, plus some body-stone effect. And yes. The leaves look crispy. Thank you for reminding me.

Hopefully, she can help Looks like thrips, I had to deal with them a few times, they make the leaves kind of crispy.
