Yo! I'm a long time weed smoker but I've never grown my own before. I helped a friend out a few times with his setup,  but haven't really done much on my own. I'm planning on starting my own in the new year when I move into my new place. I'm here to learn as muchhhh as I can before I start growing, get ready for some really annoying stupid questions lol

Just so you understand. The newbie questions you will ask are best left alone until after you check the various topics and threads firsthand.

Seek out the grow guide on this site as well as simple ones via google. Those will eliminate most newb questions that are repeatedly asked.

Lastly YouTube will let u see most any topic on how to do it. Yes, you get to see various ways to skin the same cat and that’s going to allow you to tailor things to your own situation much Better.

Welcome to the site and May your grows stay simple and productive.

With that said keep it simple stupid = kiss is the best way to grow dank even when you aren’t a newb. No need for a bunch of extra fancy additives to feed plants   Or expensive nutrients. The plants don’t know or care what u spend or shall I say waste. Peace

Welcome to OpenGrow rollin.

I'm certain you gained some knowledge by helping your friend w/his setup. Learning to grow cannabis isn't as hard as some make it out to be, but there is a lot to be learned to be able to grow your own, harvest it, cure it and use it.

There is all kinds of media out there on how to grow cannabis... books, videos, grow forums, but the best way is to have someone "show" you how it's done. Learning from first-hand experience cannot be beat.

You're gonna have a lot of questions, most of which will be "newbie" questions and that's ok,  but please understand that those questions have already been asked & answered and may be found throughout OpenGrow by using the search option.

If you can't find what you're looking for, start a thread and ask away... you'll get the answers you need from the members here. And remember a picture is worth a thousand words and you'll get better feedback with it.

Hi guys, thanks for that wonderfully warm welcome.

I'd just like to clarify that I have used forums before and I'm not an idiot, I have read the forum guidelines and know how to use the search bar, youtube, and google.

I'm worried my OP made me sound like an absolute noob because I somehow caused two different people to both instruct me not to ask stupid questions. The "annoying stupid questions" I'm referencing are more like curiosities and knowing what other growers think, along the lines of "can you clone autoflowering plants and why would you want to" not "how do you germinate a seed" fyi

hey, ask your questions!  Dont worry about how they sound or whatnot.  Scratch that itch and it might just help someone else too!

No genuine question is dumb.

These links will help you greatly.

I dont believe anyone here was attempting to imply that you are unintelligent at all. You stated in your intro that you had never grown your own before and we're here to help you accomplish that!

There are no stupid questions when it comes to growing cannabis and we've all asked the same questions when we were learning how to grow. When I was learning to grow cannabis help was much harder to find, there was no Internet yet and books and videos were extremely scarce and could be used against you if you ever got caught growing... and pictures of plants were a big no no!

Believe it or not, we all started at the same place when we were learning to grow our own cannabis.. the beginning. I mentioned the search bar because it may help answer some of your questions, whatever they are or you can start a thread and ask your questions there... either way, you'll get the correct answers you're looking for.

To answer one of your questions... no, you can't clone an autoflower (ruderalis) plant because that specific type of plant's lifecycle is too short to have enough time to grow roots and become a plant. You'll need a regular photoperiod plant if you want to clone it.

Welcome to OG.

It's a cool site here. A bit different from lots of other forums.

More experienced heads and connoisseurs, not so many noobs (myself excluded).

So you'll get advice from people who know what they're talking about,

rather than some dude who just read it on the 'net or from a cousin of a friend's colleague... :P

Best advice is just to go do something. Give it a try.

Read, ask, listen, give it another try.

Learn from successes and mistakes.

Maria is 100% correct.

The easiest way to learn to grow cannabis is to germinate some seeds and watch the plants grow... watering infrequently, at first, of course.

They will teach you how to grow them!

There will be a lot of trial and error, whatever method you choose to grow with, until you gain a little experience growing with this plant.

You will have questions. Ask them. We will have answers for you.

In turn, you will gain knowledge through the community and experience through growing your own from the start.... seed to harvest... curing to smoking!

Successes and failures both lend irreplaceable knowledge that may be gained, and in turn, will make you a more knowledgeable grower that will be able to grow cannabis in any situation with less problems.

As a member of the OpenGrow community, I strongly believe that your success will be our success.

So, how about it?... let us help you learn to grow the best possible cannabis you can. It'll be a major learning experience for you and a lot of fun for those of us who choose to help!
