LED assessment part 2

Recommended Posts

They win hands down imo.

I use "Affordable" asian ones

So i will give my review on them

1. Yields

Excellent for my needs

2. Reliability

Excellent in my experience

My go non stop for 2 years approx

Not one issue nor any burnt out diodes

In fact  the cheapest one i dropped out the box

And broke a fan blade and its still running

3. Price

"Affordable".

4. Power usage

Good as compared to HID

Now mine are not the new passive cooling types but they excel even more i read and super

Quiet.

5. Versatility

Excellent.

Safety.

Excellent.

So ya they are a safe and good choice

I don't recommend getting any blurples because

The passive cooling types are better imo

And im hoping N. American manufacturers

Prices will decline further.

So ya

Tokers seal of Approval

That's the one I have. It's $10 less than when I bought it, a couple of months ago.

Well hell you got me beat

Im still blurples and somewhat full spectrums

Highgrow found on the Tube and elsewhere

A manufacture in Ireland of led lights

Did a review of these and it got high praise

And they make sorta high end lights so

Thats impressive.

Anyway fill me in please

How do you like yours?

Whats your impression of them?

Too soon to tell. I got it for a 3 x 3 "mother tent," so I might not find out how good it is for a full grow.

The mom plants like it. Heat is minimal — I just exhaust the tent into the room, right now. I may have to change that, though.

I now have it over a few cuts I'm trying to root. This is at 50% power.

I'm sure I could do a complete grow in this 3' x 3' with this light. It seems like very even coverage, though I don't have a light meter to check.

The one dumb thing about it is the cable from the ballast (or power supply, or whatever it is in LED world) is ridiculously long, so I'm going to see about shortening it. But for $140, assuming it lasts, this seems like a pretty good deal. I might get another for seed making, along with another 3 x 3.

Looking good @Misterdirt, I see you've acquired a bubble cloner. I can offer a couple tips for success after using mine for a couple years. First, it is better to run the bubbles intermittently rather than full time. I set mine to run 30 minutes on then 30 minutes off except the first day when I leave it on so the new cuts get a soaking. Try to include an internode near the bottom of the cut. Use a sharp razor blade to make 3-4 cross cuts on two sides of the cut's stem near the bottom. Be careful to slice only through the top skin of the stem. Dip the cut stem into Clonex or like product and place in the cloner. Give them a spritz of water a few times the first day to stop wilting before they take up water through their stems. I add 2 drops per gallon of SuperThrive to the water in the bubble cloner and ph it to 5.9 - 6.0. Keep light levels low and use a 18/6 photo period and you should see roots start in about 7 days and ready to plant in 10 days or so.

Best of luck with your new setup. :tu

This one is actually a small aero-cloner I got at my local grow shop. According to the grow shop guy, "All the kids are doing aero-cloners, man. Get with the program. It's cringy to ask about DWC cloners now." And this one was on sale

(BTW, in case you're cringy, it's the new word for uncool. Using the word uncool, itself, might be cringy. I'm not sure of all the rules on that.)

Hey now Misterdirt.  Not sure how accurate it actually is, but I use an app called Lux Meter.
