Summer 2021 Start June 1

Recommended Posts

My clones spent the first night in the greenhouse last night, no incidents.

Got a ways to go though, hopefully everyone has a good Summer and gets the meds they need, Amen.

So I'll get some pictures, meant to post this last night.

Ya, best thing I ever did was build that greenhouse.

Had to put new plastic on it this year. The shade cloth on it has been going for almost a decade.

I will have to ask the boys about that, there are some new strains.

This is the way the clones stayed (with shade cloth cover) since the first.

Today they went into the boxes.

TG21-3.jpg

I went from cups to dirt, sometimes I go to 1 gal first.

TG21-1.jpg

So this is the basic setup 4 plants to a box, 6 boxes, 24plants, which is what we are allowed to grow.

TG21-2.jpg

Did some armoring there on that clone, want to avoid being eaten.

All new for this year tomato plants. I bought two twigs from the 99 cent store and planted them.

The pot is in there with them, we see how that goes.

Ok, news from the front:

The unlabeled ones are -kushmints Then the labeled ones are -pkm is Platinum Kush mints -ks is King sherb -z is Zookies

I never ask about them, we do gradual harvest so everything gets mixed up perfectly.

Main thing is they've always been high quality.

I like Kush Mints. Finding it in seed form seems to be a challenge. The PKM sounds interesting.

I knew I would find them pretty quick but I don’t think u want them thus bad.
https://treestarsseedbank.com/product/kush-mints-f2/

Seed Junky Genetics – London Pound Cake x Kush Mint 11 $200. I’d rather target this cross then ever consider the expensive F2’s.

but I’m never going to pay 2 bills for seeds.
these I would pay for though for that diverse flavor profile.

Driftwood Genetics – Strawberry Kush Mints $ 100 = 13 reg’s.

with the KM as the mother it might float your boat idk.

I was going along pretty well hadn't had any problems then a week ago I got all chewed up, been battling with the squirrels mainly.

I'm down to 10 15 plants or there bouts.

So I'll have to get some more clones pretty quick, have to wait until they stop eating.

I've caught 3 but I had to put out poison, they're off the hook.

Maybe the greenie needs a cat or 2 to live in there, for the 24/7 coverage, LOL!

So things have calmed down and haven't had any eating lately and they're looking better some.

There's some that were down to a few tiny leaf pieces.

So far so good. Got a few that are taking off but most are just getting along.

So I guess I'm growing 14 plants this year. It was upsetting at first but I'm enjoying the grow just as much.

In previous years we HAD to have a good harvest so we had enough meds to make it to next year.

I've really been enjoying the roma tomatoes, beefsteak not ready yet.

Some plants are drinking the cool aid and really got going some having trouble getting over early trauma.

They are looking good.

Your shade cloth lasted a decade? Good to know, that is how I set my deck up to grow, bought a couple shade cloths. I started my outdoor at the same time, but they were vegged plants. Big ole mothers. I might be sorry come fall lol.

Plants coming along, so I have 14 but 2 are in the bed with the Roma tomatoes.

They don't look very good, well have 3 like that.

The Roma tomatoes ripen early waiting for the beefsteak to ripen, both have a lot of fruit.

There's 3 big plants in with the beefsteak and they're doing well.

The plants in the Roma not doing well. Have to do some detective work there.

I usually put 5 plants in a box. It looks to be like 4 or even 3 might work well.

These plants have a lot of airspace with missing plants etc. and only being planted 4 to a box to start with.

I went shopping at greenhouse supply places and found a white 15% that has really lasted me.

Probably similar to this:

https://www.ovs.com/8-x-600-x-15-white-shade-cloth

I lashed it to the framework with kite string, felt like a sailor somehow tying all those knots.

That or I felt in touch with my ancestors who tied knots to survive, nets, traps, etc.

Had a lot of time to think about things like that while I was tying all the @##% knots.

After the first or second year when a storm damaged the plants we added plastic on top of the white shade cloth.

So I have plastic with shade cloth under it, little more protection from the heat.

Might help the cloth last.

I'm getting nitrogen deficient leaves again!

I grew winter greens and they were supposed to get scrunched down but a lot were eaten by varmints.

That was going to add the nitrogen boost to get them off into space.

One box has really dark leaves, nitrogen abundance?

Looks like Nitrogen or Sulphur maybe?

I put the pic up cause I saw the web covering it.

I know when I grew inside spider mites wiped us out.

Outdoors I've never worried about it.

There's predators to eat them, but still I keep an eye out and take some close up pics.

I think it was just the one plants, have to have another look at that...

Thanks

Thinking about turning off the lights.

Some of the grow could use a lot more time but the best boxes look about ready. Takes some time after lights go out I think.
